Speedmaster New or Vintage?

Assuming ~56K as the budget (announced price of new speedy plat 312)

Which moon watch would you choose?

A- The new Speedmaster platinum 321

B - A really great condition vintage version (105.003 or even 2998)

One things for sure, you could get a serious vintage piece for 56k!

However, I'd buy the platinum and hold onto it until it becomes my own vintage piece. I can't help but think when buying an older watch that I'm buying someone else's memories, enjoyment and patina.

Vintage for me. But at that price point better be impeccable example of whichever variant you're chasing.

At 56k for the new Platinum Speedmaster I would be a complete pass. I think the watch is cool but for that kind of money, I think you can do better for a collectable watch. If I wanted a PM Omega Speedmaster then the LE YG Speedmaster just released would be where I would go. It would be more wearable in my opinion and has the potential in the long run to maintain a lot of value. With the rest of the money you can put together a serious collection of vintage and modern Speedmasters and Seamasters and have more fun with multiple watches.

also agree - I located a great example of the 105.003 Ed White that I am considering it is in the mid 40s
