First Seiko Incoming

Like many on TRF the Rolex situation is starting to become a real turnoff for those of us who actually buy watches to wear and enjoy them. Furthermore, I've always wanted to add at least one Seiko to my current collection, but up until a few days ago hadn't really done any research. I saw the new Seiko 5 lineup that's been recently announced, and one of the watches that caught my eye was the Hulk-ish sports model. Then I started to do some more research, which eventually led me to my first Seiko purchase:

I absolutely love everything about this watch so far. The wrist presence is phenomenal. Compared to the 16610, the bezel has so much more visual depth and chunkiness, which I love . The green color is also very dynamic. The ceramic bezel, sapphire crystal, and the fact that it's a LE are all icing on the cake.

Great choice. Congratulations. I have one, too, and I know plenty of people who prefer it to the Hulk

Gorgeous watch!
Furthermore, I have feeling this won't be your last.

It's just all about health, happiness & family. The rest are just necessary inconvenience we have to deal with.

Firstly congrats on your beautiful watch.

My advice would be to take it slow and enjoy what you have. If you're on this forum, you're here because you probably have an interest in Rolex, and rightfully so. I see many Rolex fans buying up Seiko as a cheaper and value proposition buy over Rolex, but that often leads to a quick flip, because no matter how much value or how great the GS finishing, they are never Rolex watches, and appreciation for a brand like Seiko needs time to develop, considering you have not grown up owning them.

I see way too many Seiko owners flipping GS after raving about them, because no matter how amazing they are, they can rarely fulfil the aesthetic, pride of ownership and prestige that Rolex creates. I have owned Rolex before, and are a Seiko lover at heart, and owned many including GS over the last 15 years.

Many GS owners would flame me for saying this, but I know exactly how this works. Just take your time and learn to appreciate your SLA over a considerable amount of time before looking to throw money at another one, especially if it's a regular production model like the Snowflake.

You know what, this is a very prudent and well thought-out perspective, thank you for the words of advice. A lot of what you said is definitely true.

Congratulations. Beautiful piece.

My advice: don’t look at the 12 oclock marker too much, or you might see it.

What size is this watch? 44mm is what I see online. Absolutely love it, would like one a bit smaller 38-42mm range for myself if there is a model that fits the bill!

I've had my eye on this one as well. If I see one in person I'm sure it will be an easy decision.

Looks great on you!

You literally won’t regret it. It’s such a great watch for the price. It’s the one watch that I feel compares nicely to a submariner
