I really hope this gets turned into a movie :):):)
My comments from the outside: I have no business affiliation with watches and just collect and sometimes trade, but wow, a 19 year old talking on his page using homophobic slurs among other insults trying to defend sketchy and false watch descriptions. I’ve read about slimey Maron and this is the first I’ve read about his “apprentice”. I have been in my business for 12+ years and I started right out of college. I have had some success but in no way would I be an expert nor claim to be after doing it for 60 hours+ a week for 12 years. It takes YEARS to perfect your craft and this is just a prime example of someone taking on too much too quickly. Add the lack of integrity and a mentor who is not a good influence, and you create a little monster who thinks he is untouchable. I’m sure there are plenty of 19 year old prodigy doctors, etc, but this child is far from that and just clueless and doesn’t get that he damaged his reputation forever to make money on a few transactions. He may know enough to be dangerous with describing watches on his site and be interviewed for magazines, but it takes years to perfect the art of successful transaction and to learn to do business where they want to work with you again and again. It’s too bad he wasn’t looking at the long term (doesn’t sound like his mentor was either) and he is forever damaged with the Mount Rushmore of watch experts and will never be taken seriously. The sad this is he will never take responsibility or change his way if this wasn’t a lesson for him 3 years ago.

Ps - here is my mk2 dial that is sexier than his service dials he’s slangin’.

Wish we had screen shots and the details for the sequel to the previous refund story!!!!

I would love the screen shots per above^^
I saw the screen shotted exchange between the duped buyer and Puke Rotten, but did not see him attack the premier vintage watch dealers...The kid is a grade "A" putz.

Apparently he sold a watch with a fake case and denied it and then Eric Ku got involved and he gave a full refund. These screenshots must be out there somewhere from the theatrics that took place on Instagram!

....or can anyone simply recount the details?

What were the perceived problems with the watch?

Did better informed, honest dealers / experts give their opinion?

How did he react?

Good thing he can’t delete this thread, as it heads towards 50,000 views.

Too bad this isn't the first link that pops up when you google his name. If you google "Luke Rottman Rolex" it's the second one that shows up for me.

Would this thread top the search engine rankings if lots of members posted key words like

Luke Rottman Rolex Watch Adviser @thewatchadviser @the_watch_advisor ?

Since we're celebrating that time of year, my favorite Rottman quote (of the many) from his Instagram page to one of our members here:

"I get laid more than you get paid"

All class, that kid.

How unpleasant!

I missed this thread too. Hard to know where to begin.

If you really want to buy vintage Rolexes, you better be prepared to become an expert yourself. Fortunately, the educational resources are here on TRF.

As soon as money shows up in any field of collectibles, sleaze bags come out of the woodwork to do their thing. As the song says, money changes everything
