Another faked up Daytona for sale on the reputable "Chrono24" plattform...

C24 isnt a safe place to buy watches, if a watch like this can be for sale...

Not being a safe place to purchase seems to be the tone for several threads here regarding Chrono 24.

Chrono24 is an online marketplace, and similar to forums, it's all about the seller.

Lots of legitimate dealers on C24 selling good products.

...lots of fakes too :)

I probably wouldn't buy Rolex from a random c24 seller, but I have had good experiences buying other brands on C24 like Grand Seiko and Breguet. Both from individuals with good feedback!

How dare you. The dealer has been a Trusted Seller since 2009. They can't just make something like that up and put it on the internet! :-)

Chrono24 suffers from success as there is a flood of items beyond an ability to vet.

If you’re about vintage originality it’s not all original. At least the bezel isn’t.

Is that your basis for saying “safe”? If some other reason, what is it?

The seller states it is authentic but didn’t mentioned all original.

I was recently exposed to the old bait and switch parts scam with a private seller on C24 from another country.
Private Seller advertised what looked like authentic parts but sent something different that I quickly and clearly identified as not being what I purchased.
I’m still working with C24 CS trying to get my money back that I put in the escrow account and would not recommended buying from private sellers there.
Apparently private sellers are not required to provide returns even if it’s false advertisement or a scam.
On the other hand, eBay does not seem to play that game as they will honor their money back guarantee from what I’ve seen.
But typically you have to recognize and point out the issue in detail.

I know guys. However, this "example" is so horrible that I couldn't resist this post. Especially with the reinterpretation of the rivet strap... Maybe with screwed rivets...

It's a shame that Chrono24 offers "authenticity checks" but seems to be lagging behind commercialism.

Did you try to contact the seller / platform explaining your concerns about this watch?

For sure. They confirmed to "check the watch again by their watchmaker".
This was a couple days ago and instead take this fake down, its still up for sale.

Sad world

Just a quick view on this "bracelet" is enough to worry hard.
A screwed, massive link "7206"...

The bracelet is not a genuine Rolex bracelet.

Yes, but this one isn't...it's more like a 79030N Tudor black bay 58 fake rivet bracelet. I've advised Tim Stracke by email.

Yes thanks…However, I meant it isn’t a good replica (as Oyster Fisher pointed out in his ‘massive link’ comment) …..I.e. the style the replica/fake 7206 manufacturer has used is more akin to the big fake rivets on a Tudor BB58, not that it IS a BB58 bracelet of course

Thanks Paul. You are absolutely right. No comparison to the asian fake 7206 bracelets, which are very similar to the originals except for a few details. Especially since the end links were also sanded down here in order to complete/perfect this "masterpiece".

However, as you can see, the dealer doesn't seem to care. They wait like a snake in a hole for the bait that taps into the trap in good faith.
A "dealer" with hundreds of luxury and high end watches and decades of experience nevertheless knows what he is doing.
For me, the experience of ignorance and "taking it for a fool" was the key point of the thread. It is intended to serve more than a warning to potential buyers and to show how perfidious this dealer acts.

I wouldn't even bother visiting certain watch websites, other than to get an idea of general pricing.

We already know who's good. There are so many excellent resources on this forum for dealers you can trust.

Why mess about elsewhere?

I’ve seen a few things on Chrono24 that I would like to buy but always unsure about the safety, I did not know about private sellers no hold on the funds? That’s makes no sense? You’d think that there would a longer hold for private sellers. Until you have a history selling on the platform.

With private sellers on C24 there is a 7 day grace period after the tracked package has been received for the buyer to check out the item and either release the funds in the escrow account or to file a complaint.
I did the later and showed C24 Customer Service proof the seller pulled a bait & switch move on the parts I purchased.
If nothing happens during the 7 days the funds are automatically paid to the seller.
In my case the seller will receive the returned parts back this week and hopefully I will receive the refund from the escrow account.
For dealers it is 14 days instead of 7 days.
To me the issue is private sellers do not have to accept a return like dealers do so a buyer can be scammed easier by a private seller on C24.

I think you mean their "Escrow service", but it's not mandatory, just an option. If the seller use this service, it happens as you write. However, without it, the buyer pays the seller directly, and since Chrono24 has nothing to do with the payment, there is nothing they can do to get your money back if you've been scammed.

It’s no longer listed at the link so perhaps the dealer listened to you and maybe others after all…
Nice job exposing it!

Great job Paul.

As you saw, the "dealer" doesnt make any moves.
Will be interesting if he tries to upload it again...

On his webpage and other platforms its still valid.

Cheers. I simply don't understand it...as a specialist dealer you are only as good as your 3 or 4 worst reviews.

Personally, I'd give that watch away rather than have bad publicity hanging round for months like a fart in a spacesuit ...

Well done. You saved someone a lot of money. Its C24's job really since they offer 'Authenticity Guarantee'.
I've written to them in the past regarding aftermarket parts I've seen listed.

Another faked up Daytona for sale on the reputable "Chrono24" plattform...

I informed a dealer on C24 his minty Tudor 76100 was relumed, I sold the watch on our forum as relumed, he ended up with the watch after I sold it. I’m fairly certain the guy that sold it to him represented it correctly.

I provided him with the serial and my personal photos. He replied that he would check the serial on the watch and if it was my SN - he would update it. I was 95% sure I was right at the time.

Once I noticed it in our sales forum I found his website - I verified I was correct by matching hands/dial via macros. I even messaged him through his website. No answer, no update through C24.

I finally got TRF mods involved before he did the right thing. I couldn’t believe someone would risk their reputation over a small amount of money.

It was listed here with the same incorrect description, it wasn’t until I found it on our site that I was able to find HIS website and confirm it was in fact my old watch. I notified a mod, he fixed his Chrono listing and the original ad here may have been deleted.

I’m not sure if his own website was ever fixed. Non of this happened until the mod from our site reached out to him.

I take that back, it’s still in our sales forum here, but the description is correct now.

His website is incorrect still. Sorry if my story was confusing.

The dang thing had my name written on the inside of the case back too. I showed him the photos of it when I bought it & after it was restored. It took way too long for him to do the right thing.
