5726 pricing!

Hi All

I’m aware of the 5726 discontinuation rumours but the (asking) prices have literally jumped £10-15k in the last two weeks

There is one available in London’s Hatton Garden for £60,000 which I thought was excessive but that seems to be the ‘new norm’ on Chrono24. I guess the madness has already begun

I don't see these prices holding 20 years from now.

It is not a rumour, it has been confirmed by Patek that 5726/1A will be discontinued.

5726/1A was introduced in 2012 and ADs were getting less 5726/1As than 5712As. I think 5726/1A will be collectible than 5712A due to the low production numbers.

In 20 years many prices of anything you can imagine would be different :)

Dealers are going to go on a frenzy asking higher prices just because it's discontinued, doesn't mean they are getting it.

Yeah. Minute they discontinued the 5170P prices jumped instantly too. Who knows if anybody is actually paying 75k for a 5726 - find that nuts personally.

Love mine but starting to wonder if I should look to move into something else. Hard to see this holding up long term, but who knows

Although now theres a significant premium, if someone was to pay it now without knowing what will be announced at basel this year it would be very risky to do. They still have the strap variant so it could be very possible changes to the movement or dial could be occurring and should see the high prices come back down (a bit). The one nautilus that had the least demand now at 75k is funny to see. Dont think its worth it at that but someone out there will be willing to pay, especially since its SS & discontinued.

Well, 5980/1a black dial costs almost 100k usd now. Both references hold similar identity imo.

That is even funnier. Dealers could not give those away at half that 5 years ago. Hype hype hype.

Lets see what happens to prices if Patek releases a 5726 1a blue dial!

Most likely won’t sell. I love the watch. But my initial thought would be to get a blue dial 5712 and pocket the difference or 5711r

Better try and ‘get while the getting is good’

Maybe I am just the anomaly - but anything hyped up - with out of control premiums make my desire for ANY of those references go directly to 0 - ....and if I happen to own any of them...they tend to just sit in the box....the hype has truly ‘ruined’ a lot of references for me - and really has changed my overall position of a hobby I have been ‘into’ for a solid 20 years.

Just my .02

At this point I won't quite use the word "ruined" but the prices have been hampering my enjoyment of the 5712. Favourite watch in my collection by far but I'm also stashing it away in the safe deposit box more often since I fear I won't be able to replace it if something bad happens.

Fair enough — ruined night be a little strong — just seems like the threads are becoming more and more weighted towards hype - availability - premiums - etc....

But conversely, that’s like saying it’s the ugliest Ferrari out of the bunch.

I’m clearly biased tho. I went searching for it. Although on strap. And interestingly enough, it’s also rising in price. Significantly. Considering it’s the least popular ss nautilus, that’s something.

Another amusing thread, Some still pumping up the "ugliest/not sport watch/not sought after/i want only 5712" routine, Thank you for that, now the 5726 is more rare. Well, the news are that all the 5726 series were popular in the real market (not the forums hype market) all the time.
The 5726 on strap (!) was realizing similar or slightly less prices than the "ultimate grail" blue 5712/1a for 2 years now, in real life auctions and dealers.
About the 1a (bracelet), i wont give up my source of info but this watch was selling for 60K + (USD) before the discontinued announcement, the price of 63K GBP is high but reasonable if considering all the factors. If a 1a Blue dial will be announced, the current model will be even higher as it would be "the rare" one, as opposed to the "regular blue one" (look at the prices of 3712 vs 5712).
By the way, the gray one is even more expensive.

I agree - but i think it's reasonable to believe that something that is still essentially in production (though there may be different variations - steel Nautilus in a similar type of CNC, silicon, mixed with handwork will be in production i believe in 20 years) there will be nothing particularly unique about nautilus like these, from this era, in the long run.

In that price range i believe vintage and even mid-vintage (1980-1995) does have a chance of holding 20 years on (6239 daytona, high end 570G, 3940P)?

I love aqua/nautilus, but the price has spoiled it for me for now.

MAYBE if PP is sold there will be a premium for pre-XXXXXX versions.

its amazing how a line of watches that look really similar can be that polarizing though

Yeah man. I can’t get enough of it.

I know I’m a little over the top with it, the 5726 is by far my favorite watch.

The 5726 is one of my favorite Nautilus models. I want one real bad, but refuse to pay over SRP. Unfortunately, I don't have a relationship with a PP boutique or AD so I might have to wait until the hype dies down..

Has the watch market ever been like this before? Ever?

If not then is this (subject to some rationalisation and correction ) the new norm for certain brands / models?
