Just wondering what is a "right" job?

I am glad that the UK ADs don't ask for name/business cards as I don't have one.

Over in Hong Kong the game is a lot different I guess ... with the "right" job/name card 5711/5712 (both in stainless) are obtainable within several months. Referred my friend to my AD, he got the 5712 in 4-5 months (could have even been shorter).

But for those without the "right" job/name card, basically there is zero hope of getting one.
Never understand what possible relevance your job can have on getting a Patek.

It will work only 50% of the time

Imagine handing over such a business card to Eva, Anna or Sarah at London Salon or Fiona at Boodles.

He said he donít need a deposit as through referral. Give me a customer number and reference number. Donít know how legit they allocate the pieces. Based on the order number?

Yes. Has to be a politician there. If so you have bigger things to worry about than getting a 12 ;-)

It also depends how hard the local salesperson Fights for you.

Also tourneu NYC has closed their list already. I use to shop at 3 tourneu all over the country. But I only shop at 1 now cause my AD there is a cool dude. And heís not from NYC.

Also I believe they have been changing their policies on allocations after they been sold.

If they told u 3-5 years. It will be at least that.
ninja thanks for sharing. Itís been almost 18 months. Since I donít have a history I they didnít take any deposit. I am wondering what if there is any foul play. I am happy to put down a deposit

How can we make sure we get it as itís your the order. Donít want to live in false hope.

Not fair man. I love this piece always on my list. Just didnít have things aligned back then.

You wonít believe I have been in love with this piece for close to 7 years. Came close to buying this twice. But didnít want to buy this one from
Grey market and never thought the waiting time would be this crazy.

Best of luck OP, My suggestion is if you really have your heart set on it buy it from a grey.. lifes too short and have a feeling it's a goner I'm a year or two.
One thing I've noticed, when 5726 was suddenly in demand and people suddenly asked me if they could buy mine, it was discontinued year after.. same with 5167, who knows.. I might be paranoid but these grey dealers must know something we don't..
Not buying grey Patek. Just want some thing
With my name on ;-) to start of and hopefully many more to join.

I think sadly on these there is really no true timeframe. Itís whenever the AD gets one and wants to give it to you. Iím guessing for your average buyer with an average purchase history itís 2-3 years. For your below average joe with below average purchase history itís never.

It's Libertas (the Hong Kong Patek Philippe distributor, i.e. Rhone's equivalent in Hong Kong) policy. The Nautilus/Aquanauts are de facto application pieces in Hong Kong. You must be local and give them a business card. It is Libertas' decision who gets allocated a piece. What your profession is apparently is key in their decision. Professors, doctors, influential business people get top priority in the allocation system, even if you're a first time buyer. No business card, or from an obscure company, no chance of allocation.

One of my relatives is a medical doctor at one of the prestigious private hospitals in Hong Kong - got 5711/1A blue in 3 months with zero purchase history. One other relative who used to be a high ranking medical doctor but decided to retire early got shooed out of all the ADs in Hong Kong when they found out he was retired and did not have a current business card to give.

Thereís no foul play buddy, they are really harsh on their prioritizing and the list can be moved around. If they told you 3-5 years. I hate to be the bearer of bad news....itís probably not happening. You are better off trying to start a relationship at a small family owned AD with low traffic

Sorry but from what it sounds like it isn't happening. I "put my name down" at almost every AD I could possibly on 3 continents in late 2017 before things got really crazy. No calls to date (though early 2018 I did get a few 5712R calls, which I declined.) Being on the "list" means very little if anything these days. It's all about the relationship which is some amorphous mix of how much you spend, how good looking you are, timing, etc.

With zero prior Patek purchase history from this AD your chances are slim to nil on a 5711,5712,and 5167a. Waiting lists move constantly depending on your purchasing worth or relationship with an AD.

Correct - in Hong Kong, professors, doctors, prominent businessmen jump the queue for Nautilus, even without any previous purchase history.

I've had 3 doctor friends (one who heads a department at the top private hospital, another one is a university professor) - all of them got 5711/5712 within a few months (this is all in 2018/2019). I got mine with several months' wait as well (but that was in 2017).

At a recent Libertas private dinner to showcase their perpetual calendars (including a dinner lecture from one of their repair specialists) I was specifically told that doctors are given preferential treatment in Nautilus queues - but they do background checks to make sure that doctor actually exists (registration data is searchable online) and they make calls to the clinic/hospital on the name card to make sure.

Strangely I got two emails in Jan/Feb/March 2019 from AD in Switzerland (I've never purchased from them, I've never visited them in person) - to ask if I was still interested in the 5712 they have one in stock for me.

I emailed some of the Swiss ADs in 2017 asking for 5712 as I was (mistakenly) under the impression that it was really hard to get. I thought my email would go straight into the trash as they probably got enquiries like that all the time.

(I got my 5712 within a few months of putting my name down at WOS London in 2017, followed one week later by a phone call from my AD in Hong Kong with another 5712 offer.)

In 2017 5712 was going at or below mkt?

Apparently Libertas (the HK distributor) feels that doctors "fit into the Patek image" and are less likely to flip the watch for profit. I was specifically told this by my AD and at a recent Patek dinner.

Yup I'm lucky I jumped on before things got really crazy - but there was already a waitlist in Hong Kong/London/Switzerland for 5712 back in 2017.

Yeah I donít think our boi here has a chance in this environment. In HK I could see the job being relevant tho... I understand the culture pretty well.

I'd bite the bullet buy some dress watches maybe a chrono plus a 5196 on proviso they package it with 5712a. On the off chance it was discontinued before you get it shift your name to the 5726 blue.
Personally I wouldn't pay any deposit to an AD.

Best of luck

HK is not the norm.. My previous one in Europe they expect you to buy lots of watches /jewellery to build a relationship or will just politely tell you to do one.
