Daytona Availability

Hey I’m sorry if this is a silly question as I’ve been off of this forum for a while but how bad is availability for the new Daytona? I spoke to my AD and he said it’s worse than ever and I’m afraid that since I’ve been buying Patek from a different AD that I’m not going to have a shot at one for a long time.

Thanks for your help.

Impossible. You can get one if you’re willing to pay $9k over MSRP.

You're looking at 19k-20k now for white dial and 18-19k for black dial new from TRF trusted sellers, from an ad, without a relationship...most are looking at a minimum of 2-4 years depending on the area you live in if you want at MSRP. Some lightly used ones pop up on here (normally black dial) and can be had for the 16500-16800 mark but they tend to go fast.

I couldn't even get on a waiting list. I decided to go grey and ended up getting the best deal from Bob's. So it goes. I don't believe they have any last I checked.

Easy to buy, just not at an AD... and of course at a premium. So yes, plenty available for the right price.

Depends on your AD relationship. I just got mine three days ago at MSRP. Wait was 5 months. I’ve purchased many watches from them over the years and brought in new business too. If you’re a good customer at a smaller AD (so no WoS, Tourneau or Rolex boutiques) it should be possible within the year. Otherwise, yeah, pay on gray market or wait for years.

Really impossible. I've asked in several countries. In Germany you have to wait multiple years for both the BLNR and Hulk so it would take a decade over there! Every AD only had PM and TT models in stock. I only found a single black Milgauss and black GMT IIc in all of Frankfurt at one AD and they have about 5-6 ADs. No SS Royal Oaks or Pateks either.

You still had the chance to get on lists early in the year depending on the AD for a wait time of 3-4 years but now I don't think any AD will take anymore names period. In fact as soon as you mention Daytona, they will usually tell you that they have VIP customers who they still haven't been able to get one for. I have a reservation letter specifically for the white one, so I know I will get one eventually. If I hadn't asked specifically for white, then maybe I would get one sooner but I can't be sure of that.

So bottom line, either pay the premium now or have a lot of patience and get ready to wait for a very long time. Probably by 2026 used ones will go for close to retail after the next big thing is released.

OP, was at an AD about a week ago. The manager said they had 65 names on the wait list. They had received 8 D-500's this year..sorry for the bad news :(

Little interesting seems of recent people really complaining about the Trusted sellers gouging on Sub prices but no one complains about the Daytona prices. I am all for charging whatever just an observation and discussion point

Depends on your relationship with AD
I know my AD has a 5 year wait list and are not taking any more names

That said I got received 2 Daytonas in 2017, eight months apart

I'm on two wait lists, though no idea how far down. I'm hoping for 24 months, but I'm not holding my breath.

If you buy it now through the gray market you may pay the same as what the msrp will be in 5 years when your name is reached on a waitlist. Just my 2c

That's because Trusted Sellers have been ramping the prices up on the DaytonaC since it was released and the subject has been beaten to death on here. The crazy prices of Subs, particularly the LVc, is relatively recent and they're still climbing

People said the prices would settle. If anything, they've gotten higher. The gray price is more than 50% above retail.

You can get a gold Daytona for comparable money

Wasn’t hard for me me to find one, called an ad, they called me back a few months later with it ready for me to pick up. Ordered a 2nd for my mom as a gift during the stainless steel drought of 2017 ...”sure steve let me see what I can do for you check in with me right around Xmas or a little after”....sounds good to me will do

If an ad laughs at you, doesn’t have the kindness to take ya damn name n number or tells you years when your willing to just openly hand them almost 13 thousand bucks.....find a new AD.

Normally I would wholeheartedly agree with you. But I think think most AD’s are just as dumbfounded with the lack of inventory as we are. It’s hard to add people to an endless list with no real grasp on inventory. It might be better and more honest to turn folks away.

Get me a blue dial 5711 from your Patek dealer and I'll see about getting you a Daytona.

It's hard to argue with Rolex's business model because they have been very successful but I do question the logic of restricting supply to the point that you have created a secondary market that can demand such high prices. I called a couple of ADs and they won't put me on a list because I haven't bought several pieces from them. Each offered the "opportunity" to build a relationship with them by buying several watches I don't want and then going on a list for several years. I want just one Rolex which is the Daytona so I will end up buying from a grey market dealer or someone selling their new Daytona for profit which seems like a shame. I have seen some for 17-18k which is still crazy but there is no other option for someone like me.

this..PM is better. Once you wear it,you'll never go back to steel. I don't get the SS Daytona insanity.
