Is this a GMT-Master Ref. 1675 /w a Mark 3 dial? +repair

Hi

I'm trying to google around to identify this watch, but I'm far from an expert. The serial number is 419**** (confirmed by original dealer). The closest thing i've found so far is that it could be an GMT-Master Ref. 1675 /w a Mark 3 dial - But I don't know if that is only wishful thinking - Any opinions on that?

Also, any tips on how to go about with repairing it without losing patina (and value). The clockwork has some kind of a problem, so it is not functional at the moment. I know some watchmakers prefer to change "everything" when you send it in for an official service though a dealer, but I would prefer them to change as little as possible.

Thank you

Serial number 4,19x,xxx would indicate it's a 1974-1975 vintage, but without detailed photos it's hard to tell what you have.

I good watchmaker with a Rolex parts account rather than sending it to an RSC would be best to preserve the patina. Where in the world are you? Knowing your general location would be helpful in recommending a watchmaker.

Looks like maybe a Radial Dial. Let’s see what JP says! Other than that, it looks very promising. You are correct, keep it as orig as possible. Don’t polish or replace any parts. The insert looks good to my eye.

The serial number fits for mk3!

https://gmtmaster1675.com/mark-3/

https://www.vwcltd.com/in-depth-all-...t-radial-dial/

Those links might help you.

For repair: https://ridleywatchmakers.com/

Not sure what they want you to pay, but mk3 is considered the rarest matte dial 1675. So if you like projects, and you can inspect the damage to the mechanics enough to calculate the final cost, then it might be worth taking on.

Good luck!

Check this out, matt dials: https://gmtmaster1675.com/
Do a search for Phillip Ridley, Rolliworks, LA Watch Works (LAWW) on this forum for servicing while maintaining original components and patina.

Thank you for all your replies. I'm located in Europe (dont want to disclose my excact location, maybe i“m a bit too cautious :) ) And I dont have access to the watch at the moment, so no better photos unfortunately. I don“t know the service history yet, but if it has been serviced it has been trough the dealer where it was bought. I have asked them for documentation, but they are a bit reluctant to give out information without me bringing the watch there, and that is not possible at the moment. Thank you again for your help!

I would agree. The gmt forum confirms it to be a radial dial!!!

I rarely laugh out loud, but the secret location thing is absolutely hysterical. I’m sure his future conversations with his watchmaker will go well.

My name may or may not be Danny. I may or may not own a Rolex gmt. If I brought in a 1675 from an unknown location, could I sit next to you while you fixed it? Hypothetically?

Can’t be the UK in any case because the Brits aren’t in Europe anymore

Must be Portugal, we are the worst C19 in the European Union, so the OP must be ashamed of his origins
