Questions on older Cellini

A friend of mine was recently given this Rolex Cellini. What can you guys tell us about this watch? I know that the Cellinis are sort of the red headed stepchildren of the Rolex world. Do these have much in the way of a following? What sort of insurance value should be placed on this? Any and all info is appreciated.

Dress watch from the 60/70's and were very popular then.

Insurance doesn't work that way... It is either insured for replacement value with the retail price of a like model (more modern Cellini),or it needs to be appraised properly and those documents submitted to the insurance company.

I must say that this example is quite beat-up, over polished, and the crown is crooked indicating some possible damage.. Not sure if any insurance would be worth pursuing.

You can search the databases of auction houses to see if you find some comparable Cellinis for valuation purposes. But as pointed out above the condition of the watch under discussion is pretty bad, particularly that knocked-about crown.

Thanks for all of the comments. I think it reinforced what we may have already thought. Thanks for your time.
