SS Subs with black bezels in short supply . . .
My AD told me today that ever since Christmas he is having real trouble getting SS Subs with black bezels. New model coming out?

I would say so. My guess production is slowing down or stopped as new one is coming out.

My local (UK) AD got one in today & offered me it....
but politely asked for a quick decision as it was the last one he was expecting & he had three people in the queue behind me gagging for it! Could've been just a sales-tactic though of course.....

I've heard that RUSA have no more stock. There are still supplies available in the UK for the time being. The new model will be launched in March, and they may bring forward the general release by a few months - I reckon it'll be out in the summer.

If this new generation SS Sub has gaudy PCL on what is meant to be a SS tool watch then it is sayonara to Rolex for me. If so I will concentrate on IWC/Sinn/Panerai/Bremont, watches that still retain a masculine quality and are not all glossy, blingy, garish and designed for the golf course.

imo, the SS Black Sub shortage will get worse in coming months, especially after Basel (if they show the new SS Sub-C)

x2 I agree. They'll slow start the new model to justify the much higher price that I'm sure it will list at.

Rolex was closed for a few weeks, hence no shipments. I find it very hard to believe they would pull back on one of their top sellers.

Ecomony is in the crapper and Rolex doesn't want dealers to have to sell at discount.
Hence, production has slowed. I doubt this has anything to do with the new release. Before the GMTIIC and the Deepsea came out, it was business as usual with both the old GMT II and the SD. In fact, Deepsea was out in the marketplace for a year and Rolex was still pumping out left over stock of the SD. |

No, no! NO!
This damages the Sub's reputation as a rugged yet classy watch that can withstand the damage of the ages, and makes it into the watch that some air-headed heir teenager will wear because its "blingy". I will NEVER buy a watch with a ceramic bezel. |
