So, I am going to the dark side electric scooters, any kind folk have experience/knowledge looking for quality not cheap and nasty like me…ha ha.

Happy to pay if manufactured well, fast, long distance etc.

Cheers and thanks.

I bought one when I moved to Seoul earlier this year. Its great for zipping around the city.
This one is a beast...10” pneumatic wheels, quad suspension, F/R disc brakes.
It goes up to 60 kmph, with a max range of 80kms. It originally had a seat bolted to it, which I had removed. I usually ride on the main roads along cars. Because of the traffic jams, I can more than keep up with the flow of traffic.
Cost was ~$1000.

They’re a lot of fun and we have a Xiaomi M365 scooter and a Segway Ninebot MAX.

The Xiaomi M365 scooter which has good ratings is quick and fun but the neck wears out and gets loose-ish. There’s fixes for it but that’s its weak point. The tires are air filled and are very challenging to change. Quality is good.

The Segway scooter is fantastic and built beautifully (like a tank). As expected. It’s as fast as the M365 but battery lasts way longer than advertised. If you don’t mind spending the extra money the Segway is definitely worth the price. The tires on this model are self healing, puncture-proof. Best quality and highest rated in its class.

Both of these scooters are made for commutes and fold up for transport. They’re not made for action but rather reliability and basic street fun.

Hope this helps.

Call Costco, not online only in stores.
I bought the Segway Ninebot max for $659
Great scooter, excellent price for what it is.
You will not be disappointed if you find it.

I just ordered this one today, at first I was going to spend about $1-2K but the speed, range and quality get exponentially better when you move up to the next tier. These are still cheap compared to mountain bikes (and watches lol)

Dualtron Achilleus
50 MPH Top Speed
75 Mile Range

This one is considered mid-range, if you want to see crazy check out the Weped FS

That scooter looks awesome. Please let us know your impressions when you receive it. I may get one of these.

I saw some guy rolling with traffic in town on one of these. Won't catch me riding one anytime soon, but the thing hauled, he looked comfy. I was thoroughly impressed despite my lack of interest in ownership. In the city, these can't be beat. Even my race bike seems slow in the city compared to these new scooters. They're much more agile

50 mph is crazy fast! My niece has one that goes around 17-18 with me on it, and that feels like it’s moving. 50 mph would be nuts!

Although they look like a lot of fun, these can be quite dangerous when used anywhere where there are pedestrians. I know this having been nearly run-into a couple of times on a local walking path.
They are invariably ridden too fast by novice riders and weave in and out of pedestrians.
Because they are silent people do not hear them approaching from behind and collisions result. There is no monitoring of these vehicles.
Unfortunately many councils throughout the country have allowed companies to operate scooter-hire operations in their cities resulting in not only a pedestrian (and sometimes traffic hazzard) but the nuisance of scooters abandoned all over the place.

I prefer to walk or cycle. Exercise makes me feel good. Can’t see myself ever buying an ebike or electric scooter.

This.

I'm sure they are good for certain situations though, but not me.

I bought two Vsette 10+'s and a Nami Burn e2 Max. Also have a Vsette 8 and a ninebot max. These things are a blast to ride. Protective gear is a must though.

x2! They are left in strange places on the main roads, in neighborhood and many of the people riding them are out of control. I have yet to try one and they seem fun and would do the trick to get you around but I've seen and nearly been if recks with other riders.

Update to earlier post: My Segway from Costco is a good scooter, but the range is no where near 25 miles, the best I can get is around 12 miles. I returned the scooter to Costco, no questions asked, full refund.

A few weeks ago I bought the Emove Cruiser, about $1500. Fantastic scooter. Has a suspension, front and rear brakes, Youtube tests show 40+ miles on a full charge. I recommend this to anyone will spend the money, you get what you pay for..
