Looks like a very cramped cockpit. Is that typical of Lotus?

Yes, for safety reasons.

It's a mid-engine sports car, about the same size as a Porsche Cayman - its main rival. The Lotus seats go further back than the Cayman's, so taller people can drive it.

I am 6’2” and have plenty of room in a 718. Seat not even all the way back.

The Emira has even more legroom than the 718 because of the storage space behind the seats.

I love lotus cars, especially the Elise. But my memory of driving an Evora was that it was very cramped, and the quality of the interior felt lacking considering the price point. In fact, I had a lot more fun driving a Toyota 86 (FRS/BRZ).

I would still love to test the Emira when it’s available but at the price point it’s selling for, I would rather get a 718 GTS for a little more, or a Mk5 Supra for a little less.

The Cayman is a great all-rounder, but it has two huge drawbacks. The first is the ridiculously long gearing - you can rev it to the redline in 1st and 2nd, then it's all over. The second is the numb steering caused by the electrically-assisted rack.

I'm hoping the Emira will be better in both of these very important areas, plus of course it looks so much better than the Porsche. The interior of the Lotus is beautiful as well as the outside, as you can see.

That seems expensive, it's £76,000 over here, fully-optioned. Way cheaper than the comparable Cayman.
