Posting SOLD thread after watch sells?

Just curious, is it customary to post a new thread stating that your watch is indeed sold after it sells? I see (mostly dealers) starting a new thread stating that the watch is sold, in addition to marking it sold in the original thread. Seems like just marking it sold in the original thread would suffice. Not really complaining, but just wanted to know if there was some reasoning or method behind it?

I've wondered about the same thing but didn't dare to ask.
