Very disheartening news. My thoughts are with you. Sounds like you were a standup husband throughout. Best wishes with your health too.

Greg I read this about an hour ago and didn’t know what to say, so I said nothing. I couldn’t stop thinking about you so I’ve come back to post here - what I’m trying to say is a lot of people on here won’t know what to say so won’t say anything, but they, like me, will be thinking about you.

I’m very sorry for your loss. For what’s its worth she is at peace now and you shouldn’t be blaming yourself, she wouldn’t want that.

I blamed myself for 6 months but realized finally I had talked him out of it once before and whatever he was dealing with would have probably caught up to him one day in the future when I had graduated and was gone. I eventually was able to let the blame go and move forward. Talking to family, friends and professionals about my experience helped me process it and let it go.

Seek out the right listeners, share your thoughts and feelings, and process the day’s events until you come to recognize it wasn’t your fault, which seems clear to me as an outsider.

Your pain and grief that you are experiencing is just a testament to your love for her and the loss you are feeling. All perfectly normal. Hang in there and God bless you.
Thanks for sharing this story. Having lost friends to suicide and drug abuse, it's hard not to ponder the "What ifs" and "should haves"

especially as men, we like to be problem solvers. But there's no solution for death and mortality

And Greg, sorry to hear about your wife. Don't be alone with your cats -- talk to people, both online and in real life. There are medical professionals who are trained to help people work through grief, it's worth making an appointment, even if just outpatient psychiatry at your local hospital

So terribly sorry for your loss Greg. It sounds like you had a wonderful marriage and that is something you will always treasure. Try not to blame yourself, I know it's hard, but it isn't your fault.

I am so sorry for your loss. I couldn't even begin to imagine the sadness you have been going through this past week. To echo what others have said and speaking from experience, do not think about what ifs or what else you could have done -- it only hinders. Even though it may be difficult, really try to get outside, exercise and don't be alone. Spend time with friends or even speak with a professional, it helps.

Again, my deepest condolences to you.

Greg, my wife and I have been best friends for more than 40 years. I do not know what to say as I know this would be so devastating to me. My thoughts and prayers go out to you that your years together will always bring you peace and joy.

Greg, thank you for sharing your story. We all take everyday things for granted. We are all to self consumed. Thank you for caring about us and trying to tell us to slow down. We are all here for such a very short period on time and we seem to waste it on thing that don't even matter to us.
Thank you for helping me get my five minute back!!
I hope you find peace. I pray that God helps you find your peace and he helps heal your broken heart.
