116610LV "Hulk" - Wil Rolex make it forever?

Will Rolex make the Submariner 116610LV for the next couple decades? I've heard people say Rolex won't make it forever, but I have no idea if this is true or not.

Regardless, I'm going to pick one up, but I may not be in such a hurry (they are hard to find) if they are here to stay.

Nobody knows.

They seem to sell well so I would imagine that they will be around for a while but you never know.

Only Rolex knows but I don't see it going anywhere. It is popular, beautiful and sells well.

The original 16610 LV would probably still be in production if Rolex had not gone to the ceramic bezel.

Well, it's certain that Rolex won't make it forever... but with my pedantry out of the way, I've been pondering the same thing. It's the only other watch I'll realistically be looking to acquire but I'm not in a position to do so at the moment and I'll be gutted if, due to my cautious nature, by the time I feel I'm able they're no longer made and prices are even more outrageous than they are already in the UK)!

There's probably no reliable answer to your question, unfortunately... but I'll still be reading all other replies with interest!

No model is made forever.
But when production will end of any model, only Rolex knows.
At this time there is no end date for 111600LV production.

They'll probably phase it out when they redesign the Sub, which is a long time from now

We hear the rumours every year that it is being discontinued but I really can't see it happening anytime soon. Too much of a good seller.

I'd be very surprised if it goes anywhere prior to a Sub redesign/new reference. I feel like the green Sub is quickly becoming a classic in it's own right and see no reason for it to go anywhere....unless Rolex decides to go PM instead of SS for the next Hulk

They are hard to get in UK so indicates it is a strong seller so can't see it getting disco-ed unless a new rival model emerges; the BLNR has a possible CokeC threat so that is the more likely to be stopped.

I respectfully disagree with your comment. Why would the BLNR be stopped if it is a strong seller for many years just like the LVc? I think the BLNR would remain if ever the CokeC comes out. The GMT model would then have 3 SS references just like the SS Submariner.

I think one of the reasons why it sells so well is because it has that 'limited edition' feel to it, but since it does in fact sell so well, I can't see it going anywhere any time soon. You never know with Rolex.

I don't think the BLNR will be stopped either, and that was sort of my point, that this goes to show how unlikely I think the LVc is to be discoed as the BLNR is in more danger and that has a pretty small chance itself.

I've had my LVc since they were announced in 2010 and surprised it's been in production this long given it's unique characteristics. But since it is such a good seller Rolex will most likely keep it around for a while yet. I was always surprised the LVc wasn't PM since they tend to assign special colors to the more expensive references, but so glad they made it SS. Amazing green sunray dial made from gold and aluminum dust and a real challenge to make the green Cerachrom too. Destined to be a classic, if not already. Cheers!

No, certainly not. It's when production stops that people will go crazy for it.

No Rolex is forever; it goes through changes (both minor and major) and eventually gets replaced by a newer model or variant.

But a picture is forever, so here you go

I think the sub is due for a tweak, probably along the lines of refining the lugs so more tapered, perhaps with the 3235 movement? Add a 1mm to the diameter to 41mm to offset the refinement of lugs..Once the sub is updated the hulk will be discontinued.

Now the next question is, will the hulk be a strong collectors favourite. I think it would be more so than the the black.
