DD40 or 5726?
Looking to get something to rotate with my 5167 Aquanaut and BLNR for daily wear. I don't wear suits- usually wear scrubs at work and casual clothes. For meetings usually long sleeve shirt and slacks/ khakis/ or jeans.
I'm strongly considering a DD40 in WG (Rhodium dial) or a 5726 (probably gray but would love a white dial). Might choose strap over bracelet but not sure. I should be able to try on both this week. I wash my hands 100x/day so a bracelet or composite strap is a must. What are the pros and cons of each? I'm a little worried the DD may be too dressy looking with scrubs and casual clothes. Anyone who has owned these please comment (or better yet, if you've owned both). I've always wanted a Day-Date. Consider it my dream Rolex. The Patek with complications and moon phase is equally if not more appealing. Can only afford one. Thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Not such an easy choice as presumed, hence your understandable dilemma.
Imo DD are much more stereotypical, polarizing, def more common and certainly not "haute horlogerie". But, like the 911, the DD is a design that has defined and set standards across the industry. In my experience DD is going to lose money down the road, as is the case with most pm rolex. I would recommend 5726 |

If the DD has been your dream watch, then go for it. You can always add a Patek AC later if you decide that you still want a complicated Patek.

The 5726 is just bad to the bone. The trouble may be finding a new one or even a preowned at a reasonable price. And with my record for flipping, I probably should consider value retention . |

5726/1a white dial please! Love that watch. Seems it's finally getting some appreciation!

I happen to have both the 40DD in plat. (smooth bezel) and the 5726/1a (grey dial w/bracelet). To save a paragraph of typing of the details...DD40 is going out of my lineup and the 5726 is staying.

I'm warming to the 5726 so a tough choice, try them both and see, and as you say the DD40s feel more modern so are for younger professionals too now.

Well one is haute horlogerie, with complications m and will be unnoticed by anyone non wis, the other is not haute and is a classical Rolex design, recognized by 99% of the population, plus the PP is way more comfortable than the Rolex, had it for some time just on strap, get the bracelet, a Nautilus is much better on bracelet IMO. For me easy choice but I never ever dreamed of having a day date so go with the one you love more

5726 white dial is really nice. This could be the SS Nautilus I could add to the collection.

If you get a 5726, get it in white with bracelet, its BEAUTIFUL. I also owned the leather band grey dial 5726, and it was nice, but it doesnt pop like the white. However, in this case I would say to do two swaps if you're able to...the 5167 into a 5164, and then do the DD40...as I've had a lot of watches, but my DD40 gets the most wear (wg/green dial). It it's easily my favorite time/date only watch.

I have a rose gold DD, and the 5712. Literally no one comments about the Patek, but I get comments all day about the 40mm DD. I like the variety. Get both!

I'd stick with 5726 if PM. Otherwise DD40.

I think the DD will look a bit too dressy in your work environment. 5726 seems to be a better fit.

Wow really? I owned a few Rolex, 4, even if no DD, and the comfort didn't have anything clise to the comfort of my 5712 or 5711, to be honest I started hating wearikg them due to comfort issues once I got my 5712, after about 45 minutes they started to really bother me...
