For this case, I would go for the Daydate 40. Perhaps it's not haute horology but the daydate is an incredibly well made watch.

I would go with the 5712/1 - SS on bracelet. The blue dial is beautiful IMO.
If you really don't like the 5712 for some reason then go for the 5726! DD/Rolex is a bit showy especially in gold or a stand out dial. Might make some of your patients feel resentful? On the other hand, other patients may think you're a great successful Dr and will be glad that they're in capable hands! Good luck with your tough decision Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I agree that a 5726G with a blue dial would be a nice watch. However the price would probably hit the $50K USD mark, a price point where people start questioning if a watch is really worth that much.

I think it would be well over 50k. Isn't the 5711R like 50k? I think it would be around 60-65.

Thanks everybody for sharing your opinions and viewpoints. It was actually very helpful. I took all the advice and then it immediately went out the window when I tried them on. One of the choices just felt "right". It was immediate. No hesitation. I'm super excited. Having it shipped, so I will post pics when it arrives in a few days.

I have small collection of nautilus but also have one vintage DD which I love very much. I like the simple watch with day and date only as I find these are most useful feature can be used daily.

Decision made and it has arrived!!
I actually went in thinking hard about the Day-Date. It's a wonderful watch, was very comfortable, the proportions on the DD40 are perfect IMO. It came down to the bracelet and the watch likely garnering a lot of attention at work which I don't like. I'm sure I'll own it one day. I love to wear a nice timepiece, appreciate the history and craftsmanship. I just don't like a lot of attention and "is that a Rolex?" or "how much does that cost?" at work. Maybe weird, but that's how I am.
So then it was down to the 5726. I went in with them ranked in my head based on pics etc. I was thinking 1) White/bracelet 2) Gray/Bracelet 3) Gray/Strap Well, that changed when I tried them on. To me, the Gray looks better in person than the pics. The bracelet was great, but sort of would stand out as well. Plus I loved this gray on the alligator leather strap. This set up can give me a dress watch (leather strap) and work watch (rubber/composite strap). I've even got a Rubber B on the way. I knew as soon as I put this one on. I love it!!!!! First AC also!! Enough talk, here's pics: |

Congrats! Beautiful watch. There is also a brown leather strap available, I think, which brings a different feel with the grey dial.

The 5726 is a scratch magnet, the other not so much.
The 5726 is rare, the other not so much. The 5726 will hold/increase in value, the other not at all. The 5726 has an amazing bracelet, the other not so much. The 5726 is stealth, the other not so much. The 5726 is to be revered, the other not so much. They really are two totally different beasts. I love my DD, but the 5726 trumps it for wrist time. Take your time, try on plenty, make friends at your local PP & R and either are a winner. |

Would be my choice over the newer larger size. I think it just balances better.
As to your question, I would go with the PP over Rolex any day. And as said the pm Rolex can be hard on people who flip often. |
