Is my 14060M Submariner Missing something?
Hello, I recently decided to clean up the underside of my 14060M Submariner bezel to help it turn better (D Serial, 2005). Upon disassembly, I noticed that there was no metal washer underneath the bezel.... to my knowledge there should be one there. I have disassembled a friend's submariner and it was present, which is why I find it strange that mine is not present. I purchased this one secondhand from a seller on the forums recently and it was serviced in 2016 by a Rolex AD, however I don't think an AD would forget to put the metal washer back in (assuming it was present from the start).
The bezel rotates fine and does not turn bi-directionally, however there is play when I press on the 12 and 6 o clock positions. I believe the washer is there to give the bezel an auto lock type of mechanism so that it can rotate when pressed down slightly.. I'm also unsure of the official name of the metal washer when searching online for it. Is the washer supposed to be present? Will it be possible to source an authentic one? Will Rolex provide missing parts when servicing? Should've taken pictures of the bezel and parts however I am weary to take apart the bezel when it is not necessary. Thank you, my first post and didn't mean for it to be this long! |

If it was serviced by Rolex in 2016, it is still under warranty. I would take it back to the Rolex AD and tell them there's an unusual amount of play that you described in your post. I would not tell them that you removed the bezel and noticed the washer is missing (could possibly void your service warranty).
Just because they might have missed installing a part (not likely, but nothing is impossible) doesn't mean you should spend time + money sourcing the part. |
