All of the tests, including the one where the gentleman used his own finger, had the flesh inching up to the blade at a VERY SLOW rate of speed. Many accidents occur when the user slips, thereby causing the finger(s) or hand(s) to fall toward the saw at relatively high rate of speed. I wonder how effective the safety stop mechanism would be when a hand "falls" onto it.

I believe that the video addresses how fast the mechanisms reacts. I believe that that it is so fast that the finger will not touch the blade before it is stopped, regardless of the speed of the falling finger, etc.

I didn't watch the video again, but I believe the mechanism is activated at somewhere around the speed of light and the brake is activated at a speed mentioned in the video.

terrific idea, used to get sawdust/shavings from a local sawmill for our animals & the poor chap there lost 3 fingers...priceless invention
