Hmmm...just realised that in Singapore it would be almost 1 am right about now. I know that you guys are like 5 hours behind NZ time.

Hey, ya'll. I've been up a while but trying to clean up some of the Christmas aftermath! Finally baby is asleep so I can goof off for a while. I can throw in laundry and pick up toys between posts.

JJ - do you like Chai? A buddy from India taught me how to make it - we can get the cardamom seeds from a local international market. I grind them with a mortar and pestle, heat the milk with the seeds, pour it over the strong hot Darjeeling.... and it's mighty tasty! Haven't made it in a while but now that it's on my mind I oughta go hunt down some more cardamom.

WOW, Lisa.....I'm impressed!!

What you just described above is the traditional way of making "chai" (tea). I do it the modern way - chuck a tea bag into a cup of boiled water, add 3 spoons of sugar, a little milk.....and PRESTO!!

Now you can laugh at my dopey ignorance, but she also taught me to say (spelled phonetically) "Apkah nom kier hey"... but I forgot what it means! I think something like, "what is your name?" I hope it's not naughty! Aren't there, like, 16 or more languages spoken in India?

You almost got that right, Lisa!!

It's "Aap ka naam kya hain?" which of course translates as a polite way of asking "May I know your name please?"

As for the numer of languages spoken in India......at the last count, there were over 200 - yes, over 200!!! Staggering, isn't it?

Oh well....OK, up to speed.....

Not a big coffee drinker myself...since I'm from South Africa, I'm used to 'tea time'! But I actually don't drink a lot of tea either! Prefer cold beverages.

I think Elaine is sleeping right now.

Where is everyone else? GIRLS, can you hear me????

My fellow coffee hounds! Even my kids know not to ask too much of me before I've had a couple of cups. Poor things. When I was pregnant I cut way down - none at all with my first, a half a cup a day with my second, and with my third - well, I wasn't quite as careful, but didn't overdo too much!

Does anyone here have kids? I know Carolina does... in fact, my 7 year old is right here and she wants to pick a smilie for this message. Here goes:
