I’d wait.
I think the SkyD market will cool a lot faster than the DaytonaC market will. |

In my candid opinion (fwiw I’ve spent my entire career in design obsessing over minutiae), the white D500 is the most aesthetically pleasing design Rolex has produced in the past 30 years, and is nothing short of perfection on the wrist. Only some of the vintage reference Subs and Daytonas can compare. The Sky-Dweller, on the other hand, I find absolutely abhorrent, and I’m still trying to figure out why so many others hold it in high regard. To me, it’s a watch with an identity crisis, being neither sporty nor dressy (and not in versatile way), on top of a design that I find flat out ugly. Between the fluted bezel, the large size, and the misaligned & unbalanced subdial, it looks like something an overzealous designer created for seniors wanting a "hip-looking" watch.
Everyone has different tastes, but I’d never consider such a trade. Ultimately, you should spend more time wearing the Daytona before making the decision, as it could be a pain to re-acquire. |

On my wrist does rest, instead, Sky Dweller marks time. Just for you, Neil!!!! It wasn't an apology; I'm truly saddened by your need to attack me for having a point of view you don't like. I don't have a clue why you feel a need to discredit me and keep on going. Would you leave this alone if I said "the Daytona is the most wonderful watch ever made? I clearly had a lapse of judgement and can see clearly now that I'm back on my meds?" |

IMHO, it’s been worn 3 times in 3 months that tells you that it’s not the watch for you. Regardless of its current market value, I couldn’t spend money on a watch and only use it so little. However as you state if you have no issue with keeping it and buying the SkyD then I’d wait. You’re basically sitting on guaranteed free money, liquid at any point in time!!!

No secret I'm in the Daytona camp.....but you said it yourself you hardly wear it and rather have the Sky Dweller.....why not take advantage of the market now and trade.....I would really make sure you like the Sky Dweller though first (see it, wear it etc) to make sure you don't have another one benched.

Despite not being a Daytona fan, I would definitely wait to get SkyD and keep both.

I have a few watches that I never wear but they’re all sentimental pieces that have a story. I’d flip the Daytona if you don’t love it and buy something you you’ll wear. Too back up another’s thought in this tread, I really believe you’ll be able to buy any Sky Dweller for MSRP once the hype dies down. Regardless, for what you could get out of your Daytona you could buy the Blue Sky even at marked up grey pricing and wear it now.

Get off his jock man. Who the hell are you to judge him on how or why he bought his watches. Grow up and let him have his opinion. Moving on to what??? Hating the next guy because he has better watches and a different opinion???

You clearly don't like the Daytona - get rid of it to someone who will pay the $ and will likely enjoy the heck out of it. Since you're already on the wait list fo the SD - just wait for it and buy it at retail MSRP pricing when you get the chance. |

Got the Sky Dweller SS with a blue dial at list
Happy to let fellow members of this forum know that a little research and persistence and it paid off ,got my SS sky dweller with a blue dial from the ad at list! All I did was call up the dealers and used a little influence and here it is! Paid for in advance will be on my wrist in a weeks time as I have to go to Mumbai to collect it ! I consider my self lucky a SS Daytona C in white got it in 3 months and the SS Sky D in a matter of 2 months
... Sorry about the poor quality of the pictures sent to me by the sales guy but will post better ones once on my wrist ... along side my Daytona C This completes my quest .... |
