This is what I was thinking. Longest production run. Some of my favorite Subs are 5513's. Mid 60's gilt, 80's Maxi's.

I was going to say 5513 or 14060m until I saw this. Absolute stunner. Looks amazing on that strap too. Pure perfection

[edit] If you ever want to get rid of that beat up old thing and get a new watch with a nice new modern movement with the parachom blu hairspring, 300m of water resistance, lume that actually works and a glidelock, I’d be willing to take it off your hands — since it’s so old it’s probably not worth much (I hear that reference doesn’t even have a unidirectional bezel!), but I’d be a nice guy and give you enough money to buy a brand new Sub (-;.

I used to like the 114060 the best in online pictures, but after seeing them side by side in person I actually prefer the 116610ln. The cyclops just makes the watch a bit more interesting.

For modern, the Blue YG Subc. For vintage an early Mk1 Red Sub.

Well this is quite interesting so far with 166 votes cast. The wide lug subC and subC date have nearly 46% of the vote, and the thin lug subs across all models have the balance of just over 54%. I would have expected the results to be much more significantly in favor of thin lugs based on how much criticism that the wide lug subs garner.

I a newbie to Rolex & the forum however I always thought the President was the ultimate Rolex. After several months I’ve come to the conclusion that most people think of the SS Sub as “the Rolex”

They don't in the context of what people are buying, obviously there are still many thin luggers but as every year passes they become the minority as 90% of incomings are 6 digits.

Well it depends on your definition of "greatest". If it's all the horological advancements and improvements (including the SELs and Glidelock), then its any modern Sub. Greatest could also mean rarest and most sought after...

There are more 6 digits purchased certainly, but its just seems like the general consensus on the forums is an overwhelming preference for thin over thick lugs. The poll reflects this somewhat, but not as significantly as I’d thought it would.

The early ones are the most important, but the 114060 is the greatest IMHO.

Only voted 5513 as the 5517 wasn't listed... If only I had the funds

Not remotely, this just comes up once or twice a year when Basel or a thread comes up, for the rest of the year most everyone is happy with the 6 digits or at least used to them, and Rolex sales are as hot as ever, so the world is too.

Great picture!! I love my 114060. But I think the 5517 takes the cake for this thread!
