136660 dssd
Since the 136660 DSSD (both the black and JC) were released just last year and the watch was just rebranded the DeepSea, it’s possible these DSSDs could become highly desirable since they had such a short production life. Thoughts?

Sure.. right there with stick dials, rail dials, serif dials, box dials, "no date" dials, Swiss only dials, and on and on....
It is more likely that it will simply become another clue if the dial is original or correct for the era. They aren't going to be "rare" as every single dial before is one way, and after is the other way.

Nope. Only certain sport watches continue to increase in value. I sold my F4 LV when the market peaked for it. I have seen the prices come down a bit for the same model since then. I have the original JC but I don't see it getting to be a wanted vintage. Many feel it is too big but one never knows.

Being a 126660 JC owner myself, unfortunately the DSSD is a niche watch that caters to a certain crowd. It's never going to be the one everyone wants (ie Daytona, BLRO etc). So best to wear it and enjoy it.

Think of it as being in the same league as a Double Red and how that has played out in the collectors market.

I don't think so. Too many out in the market.

Even though I love the Deep Sea, I just can't get away with wearing it. I've bought the watch 3 times in since they came out and sold it 3 times.
I do think they will have some collector appreciation in the long run, but not general appeal like a vintage Submariner or Daytona would have. Can't deny that the Deep Sea is a fantastic technical marvel and the effort Rolex put into the creation of that yellow gold model shows Rolex feels proud of their dive watch heritage.
