2nd opinion, which 1 would you pick....??

For long term ownership which annual calendar would you pick between those two...??...

For the CLASS, the ELEGANT, the LOOK, the TIMELESS & appreciation in a reasonable future of 10 plus years & so on.....

PM Rolex Skydweller (OR) PM Patek Philippe 5146

Those are your choice.....^^^...

Thanks....

Best Regards,
Tony

5146. It's on a different level. More understated, more elegant, and the movement decoration is outstanding.

I'd go SkyD. I feel it will put up with the abuses of my life style (and 5 year old) better than the PP as gorgeous as it is. I love moon phase complications, but imho, the SkyD ticks the requested boxes for me more. Not to mention, when your eyes go, the cyclops will help you see the date lol...

More fragile; more expensive. Not for me. Don't need moon phase but GMT I can use.

The Patek is to die for....superbly elegant. But that Skydweller...well, you fill in the gaps. Good luck with your decision!

SkyD for me.

Both are beautiful but the Patek doesn’t do it for me. It’s not a tool watch, it’s not designed to take a wallop, I get that. But I’d like to wear something that I wasn’t afraid of catching on a door jam or something.

I'd take the Patek. Especially based on the criteria given by OP. No comparison, IMHO

I like the 5146, but not so much in that color combo. So, it's the SkyD for me.

I didn't see anything in OP's post about daily use...the question is about timelessness, class, elegance...the Patek to me is the hands down winner.

Depends what you look for. Watch to wear or a treasure to bear?
SkyD of course!

That would be my personal choice too. I've thought long and hard about Patek and was very close to pulling the trigger, but the current service time just puts me off. Our AD here pretty much tells you to expect a long wait upfront (4months plus) when you enquires about Patek.

However for OPs criteria Patek fits better.

+For the CLASS- no argument Patek is the winner

+ELEGANT- personally leaning towards Patek. SD has more of a bling vibe.

+LOOK- that's very personal. However a PM SkyD does contain a bigger chunk of gold and looks awesome

+TIMELESS- again probably Patek since SkyD has only been out in the recent years.

+ Appreciation in a reasonable future of 10 plus years - probably Patek since now Rolex is doing more SS SkyD. PM rolex always lose more value new but does hold well on the secondary market. Have a look at YG GMT II from the late 2000s- their value did not appreciate much compared to SS GMTs.

I don’t really get the need for perpetual or annual calendars, but given those two, it would depend on where and when you intend to wear it. If it’s a dress watch for work, then the PP. If it’s for more casual dress, then Rolex, although I'm not a great fan of the Skydweller.

PP for me. Two very different watches. Bang for buck the Rolex wins, but for timeless classic the Patek.

The Patek is a pass for me.

I don't need my watch to tell me the month and the day in a text that is waaaay too big.

The SkyDweller is a Rolex masterpiece of engineering and is THE one to choose in this race.

Just based on looks I prefer the 5146. In terms of appreciation they´re probably both equally bad.

Neither for me. I would go PM in the Submariner, GMT or DD. All of those watches from Rolex are tanks and will last. I have just moved out of a YG and WG Sky-Dweller's on bracelets and they are massive watches. I did not need the complication and did not like the dial. I admire PP for design and history but have no interest in ownership based on a blending of cost and service times.

I know it's not an option listed, but I'd take the PP 5960 over either of these two.

For the money in your example I'd take the SkyDweller.

Don't particularly care for the 5146. If it was another AC it might be a tougher decision but the SkyD wins it.

But it did say what would you pick. I would not own the Patek. No amount of word smithing is going to change that.

If class, elegance and future appreciation is something your going for, this isn't really a competition.

It's Patek hands down.

Tough to beat a Patek 5146 for timeless elegant piece.

From an everyday "wear-ability" standpoint...2 totally different pieces
