to me I thought with the GMTIIC I can be assured of its resale value too and I can be content with it for the next few years, or forever, and so I decided to get it first, but man had I known ahead that the interaction with a Panerai gives a lot more meaning than to just baby a watch, I honestly can say I should have gotten it first and it would have delayed my next purchase ( I bought the Pam in less than 5 months after the GMT since I couldnt resist it anymore)...I shouldn't have been afraid of my real desire for it, afraid of the so called "it's just a hype"...it actually doesn't matter in the end, it's what makes you happy..... well let's go get those wrists shots soon !
ps there's no perfect watch apparently...only a first, a second, a third, etc etc |

rolex is great, but for a first watch, get a pam.. you can have more fun with strap changing.. if you like more military look pam is the one.. if you want more of a james bond slick look, then rolex is the one... both are great watches and cannot go wrong with either.

Rolex Deep Sea. Has the classic looks of Rolex and has the size and attitude of a Pam. It goes with every outfit from casual to trendy to formal. Grab one and start growing your hair back!

Finally got my first Panerai....
Ok guys! So after starting no less than 7 threads on the issue of buying my first "real" luxury watch and trying to decide between 3-4 brands/models, earlier this month, with many of you guys' help, I finally decided on the Pam XXX.
A few weeks ago, I put down a significant deposit and last week Tuesday made my final (second) payment on the watch. Today, after much waiting and anticipation, I received my brand new Pam XXX via fedex (although I had to actually go and pick it up from the local office to avoid waiting all day for the delivery and possibly having it intercepted by my wife). And if you've done the math, yes, I did pay for the watch several days in advance of having it shipped - which was extremely painful. But I had to have it "delivered" on a day when I knew I would be home alone. So I went and retrieved the package around 10:45a.m., got back home around 11:15a.m., opened the package and spent a few minutes inspecting the watch and making sure it was in excellent cosmetic as well as working condition (which it appears to be) and then quickly wrapped it back up and stored it away until a later time/day when I can spend more time with it. Had to leave out to go to my daughter's pre-Thanksgiving lunch at her school... I guess by now you have figured out that my wife has no idea I spent several thousand dollars on a brand new watch- not to mention her birthday is three weeks away! And there's no way I'm showing her this purchase until after her birthday. Anyway, just thought I'd share a few photos of my brand new Pam XXX and thank you guys once again for all of your help and suggestions...And after seeing the watch again in the flesh, and outside the local ADs where other watches can cloud your vision, I know for a fact that I've made the right choice... |

Fantastic choice! Looks amazing on the wrist! Get ready for lots of compliments!
Sorry you have to wait so long to wear it freely, but it's worth it. Every guy deserves at least one really nice watch. It's when you start getting into the 3 and 4s that it really gets you into hot water with the wife! Congrats and wear it well! |

Congrats. I picked up a 359 a couple of weeks ago as my first $xxxx watch as well. Been loving it the past couple of weeks.

Yeah, that is true. However, I wasn't thinking too clearly when I had her go to the local AD with me once to try it out. Stupid rookie mistake...watch remains hidden and I remain frustrated. Went away for the holiday so I didn't think about it too much this past weekend. But now that I'm back home it's getting tough. Football games are occupying my mind for the time being but thinking about sneaking it out for a quick try on tonight!!!
