Identifying references - degreading/vignette blue black with baton indices.
Since I was a teenager, I've lusted after a very particular Datejust.
- Blue/black degrading dial. - Baton markers (rather than diamonds). - Silver hands and markers. - Fluted bezel. - While I would take either an Oyster or Jubilee bracelet, preference goes to Jubilee. I'm very keen to make sure its a factory dial, this is arguably the most important component in my hunt, God knows the diamon vignette aftermarket dials are all over various auction sites. I've seen that a handful of these have sold in Europe and the U.S. I'm not able to post links, unfortunately. What I've been able to gather thus far is that the dial type was made in the 1970s and 1980s for thr 1601 and 16014. If anyone out there has Rolex catalogues which may given an indication on the exact model number for watches which left the factory with this dial/hand configuration on any model of Datejust and the years it was in production, I'm very interested in knowing more. Happy to pay for your time and access to resources if needs be. |

Giving this a push. Anyone? Some say "vignette" is applicable only to diamond indices but this may likewise be a description?
