I spoke with an AD that just received the D-Blue in today. He told me I better hurry because the watch might be discontinued as early as 2018. Is there any truth to that???

2 hours later, the AD called to say he sold the watch today to another buyer who heard about it coming in.

SD43 is much more comfortable, althought D-Blue wears comfortably as well if needed. I really admire the craftmanship in D-Blue, it is unbelievable.

But he is correct. The D-blue is not a full production Model and will be discontinued this year or next or year after giving it a shorter run than the 16610LV submariner.

Many who passed on or sold the 16610LV are kicking themselves now

While the SD43 probably would be the more appropriate watch for most people, and the DSSD is kinda the wrong watch for most, the D Blue dial makes it something else.

D Blue gets my vote. Picked up mine last week after contemplating and trying on both the SD43 and D Blue. 7.5" wrist and no issues with wear. Like others have noted above, SD43 just reminded me of a larger sub. D Blue is unique.

Because this the SD43 just hard to beat. For me the shape of the D Blue was just out of proportion and felt awkward. While the blue face drew me in initially, the novelty wore off quickly and just seemed burdensome when on, and I'm used to big 43-44 watches.

SD43 for me, not bulky, perfect proportion compared with DS, new engine, more versatile with lower profile in case of wear it with a dress shirt and Cyclops is a Rolex must have for me when there is a date.

it all depends on your wrist size.

Deepsea is just too top heavy in my sense and the tapered bracelet just made it worse.

however, the red-dweller, is big at 43mm but its slimmer and sits better on a average wrist.

If you will wear weekends and have others in rotation, the Deep Blue is the one - looks especially great in sunlight and the chunky case works fine with casual clothing.

If this will be a daily then the SD43 - as a big wristed guy I think it is just about perfect in terms of size, bracelet proportions, and it fits under a shirt cuff better than the DSSD.

Wow ! Hard call you have there , it's a very very difficult choice and there both winners and you Carnt go wrong with either , but here's my verdict after owning 3 James Cameron's I love the watch , then hate the watch hence I let it go then buy another ! The dial is a masterpiece ! total genius by Rolex .
Sadly the watch case at 44mm is nothing like the 43mm on the new seadweller the 44mm Deepsea wears much larger than its size unlike the 43mm new seadweller which wears smaller than its 43mm size .

Also the James Cameron watch sits far too high on the wrist and I was always aware of the chance of hitting it on door frames etc its just not a practical watch for everyday for me , that being said I also think Rolex have let the run of James Cameron's continue far too long and flooded the market with them , a 2 year production run say 1000 pieces no more would have made them extra special .

I currently own a 43mm anniversary seadweller and when it came out at Basel I thought what a monster ! A cyclops on a seadweller ! Then over time it began to grow on me , then I saw it in person ! It's good , OK very very good In fact almost total perfection ! It's a big special submariner ! Would I swap it for a Deepsea ? Never ! If I could change one thing about the watch I would put the Deepsea blue dial into the new seadweller , if only ?

I love my D-Blue gets the most wrist time. I find it very comfortable but I’m a big guy with a 9.5” wrist I can see were a person with a smaller wrist might find it to big.
That’s why you should go to your AD and try both on and see witch one feels best to you.

I’m a fan of big watches, but do find the DSSD a bit top heavy. Also, when I’ve tried the Deep Blue while wearing a suit, it hasn’t worked for me. The SD43 is a great casual watch and can also be worn with a suit

Such a difficult one. I love them both and am on lists for both.

I finally got the call about the JC D-Blue and when I got there, I tried a sold DS43 too alongside the DS.

Both of these watches are stunning. If both were available I’d have really struggled. I ended up going with the D-Blue as it is just so badass. I also love the story to it. The SD43 looked underwhelming with the D-Blue beside it, intimidating it lol. The SD43 almost looked like a big sub. However the D-Blue was just something else.

However I have a 7 inch wrist and whilst I’m a bit porky, I’m not a big guy. It does feel extremely heavy and will take some getting used to.

However it is only part of my collection and I am delighted just to own it with the history.

If I had the chance of both and the funds, I’d go for both.
