Indeed!

They didn't even offer it to me! Mine came from another AD and the dealer allowed a good friend of mine to buy it instead when I passed on it.

I would simply return it and ask for a refund. "Fixing" a 65k watch is unacceptable.

Of course it is acceptable to replace a rotor that simply has marks.

Good point. You wonder why the service centre in Hong Kong just didn't do it?

Sorry that your new watch had issue.I would want my money back or exchange for a new watch, if something that obvious passes quality check I would be worried on the things you can't see. If one bought say a citizen watch that had obvious scratches I don't think most would want it serviced and would want a new watch, then why not w such a high end brand. (Granted it's not like mass produced but I'm sure they could source a new one from the factory) I hate to say it but it seems like the op will be happy with service, but based on what I have seen on this forum it appears to me the op is in for a longer haul... More damage from service, watch not functioning properly,etc.....

Not acceptable. It's a brand new watch. Ask for a refund. In this case, it's clear cut fault from manufacturing since it's inside the watch.

I didn't ask for a refund, since I did wear the watch for a few days and although no scratch on the watch, the strap does bent. A friend that went with me share a refund story on the spot, and the authorise dealer said Patek will never refund for a watch even it have flaw,, they will fix it within the warranty.
And mention the refund stories we heard before, all the cost is absorb by the dealer itself, not the watch company. Thats what I been told by the sales man.

yes I could happen ! there is no perfection not only PATEK but also other high end brand I can confirm. In this case, you probably find out other defects when the watch returns. It s handmade. Just enjoys and wear it. Maybe you should think that it gives your watch character honestly. However, PP will serve you perfectly for fixing this defect.

x2.

I'd do the same. Patek shouldn't let that out the door.

Need a better AD. My AD would give me a 30 day refund no questions asked on any I bought from them.

As of yet, I've never returned anything but I am absolutely a loyal customer and have bought many watches there over the years. Will continue to as well.

Sorry to hear about your issue, but if I was you I would just have it fixed vs pushing for a refund. It's annoying and shocking that this passes QA, but it is what it is. In a month you'll have it back as good as new and can continuing building great experiences with that beauty.

The AD should work with Patek to get you a replacement. Last year, I had a problem with a grand complication that I cut the seal on, and after a very short period, it proved problematic. My AD worked with Patek and got me a new, sealed watch, albeit a different version (R instead of a G) since the G I had was not readily available.

I believe you are correct, the policy is to fix it. Really it's just the rotor but what's annoying is the time without your watch while they fix it.

My friend share ur case with the sales, the sales claim it's not Patek practice to send a brand new watch as replacement. It's ur AD absor all the cost and send you a new one. Patek won't send any new watch even it have flaw on the watch, they will fix it with no problem, but never replace a new watch.

Here is an excerpt from the email from Patek sent to my AD, in which they asked if I would accept a white dial as a replacement:

"Good morning!

I shared your customer letter with our head watchmaker. Here are his comments:

“I wonder if the client was given the proper instructions of how to properly set and manipulate his watch. He says he manually tried to move the day over using the corrector but did he set it to 6AM each time? He may have inadvertently caused damage.“

I have no idea when we’ll be receiving another blue dial…would he take the white as a replacement?"

I would have a problem with spending that kind of money and the having it serviced or a part replaced. But that's just me, I guess.
