Travel Cancun Rolex Tip!!!!!!!

Good morning, brothers, next month, my family and I will be traveling to Cancun.
It will be my first time in this city and I would like to know of the other friends if it is safe to travel with a rolex skydweller.
I wonder if the city is safe in relation to tourist assaults.
I will be staying in a hotel by the sea, but I think I will enjoy the night of the city.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like what watch you wear is the least of your concerns.

If you have a Skydweller would it be crazy for me to assume you'll be staying someplace nice like Grand Velas Riveriera Maya?

Then you'll never want to leave your resort. There is nothing going on in the city unless you want to buy souvenirs. You can buy those at the airport.

Then it comes into question your age and health - could you handle yourself if you had to, where going out to Sr Frog's to get a Marg & some skull souvenir t-shirts isn't a dangerous adventure?

It's a good idea to be forward thinking. Ultimately you'll make the decision. I can tell you in my vacations I decide what watch I wear and where I'll be going. PM watches where I don't leave the resort nor take off the watch. SS GMT on nato strap when I have to scoot around town doing fun things.

Have anything less flashy than the Skydweller? Makes the DM process easier ;)

Good luck!

Do you walk around Brazil with your Rolex? I'm sure like any city you need to be careful.

Cancun is the Las Vegas of Mexico to me--overrun with tourists.

Use common sense where you go.

I personally never leave the resort and never felt unsafe in Mexico.

I'm not a fan of going to Mexico right now, period. Unless it's Cabo. A buddy of mine kept mocking me for being too paranoid. Then he was supposed to be at a nightclub in Playa..he decided to stay in that night and a big shootout happened. Wrong place. Wrong time. I would definitely not bring your Rolex. Many friends have had valuables stolen out of their room at nice hotels, with or without safes. THe odds of anything happening may be small, but they're infinitely higher than they are here (assuming you don't find strolling our country's fine ghettos appealing)

Maybe if you never leave the resort and take a hotel car to and from the airport, you'll be fine. But if you're going to go around at night and/or take public taxis, I'd personally err on the side of caution.

The always fun: is it safe to wear a Rolex.

The answer plain and simple is why would you want to potentially make yourself a target.

If you have to ask that question then leave it at home or only wear it at the resort and keep it in the safe when out and about in the city.

I personally find that its never a good idea to wear anything too flashy when traveling in unfamiliar areas.

Of course insurance is always a plus.

I always wore my TT Sub in Cancun. Never a problem, it is a tourist destination. Keep the watch on your wrist at all times. Hotel safes are worthless.

here are my thoughts. I went to Cancun last year, wore the DSSD ALL the time, NEVER had issues.

1). Went to a smaller town to do whale shark dives, the fishermen did not give it a second glance. But they knew it was a Rolex.

2) Took public buses up and down Hotel zone, for 1 week, NEVER had issues. of course, as in any place, you would want to be aware of surroundings.

3) Went to Isla Mujer, dolphin swim, NEVER had issues.

4) Went downtown, walked around to Froggy's, looked at shirts , souvernirs, NEVER had issues.

Bottom line, I wanted to take my Two Tone, but ended up taking onluy the DSSD.
I should have taken an extra watch but never did, and next time , i will.
We stayed at the Marriott *( Hotel zone) area.

Will I say its 1000% safe? Of course not, no place is EVER 1000% safe.

Is it safe enough for families? 1000% yes, Cancun is the most family friendly place you will ever be in Mexico, my 2 cents. You will see people of all ages, of all races, and its almost like being in Europe feel, very global, very continental feel.

When I went we never left the resort, so i would wear it most of the time. I would recommend that if you plan to leave the resort, leave it in the safe. While it's not ideal, if you have insurance at least they'll take it from the safe and not from you. We are going again for my sister's wedding and I will do the same with my rolex

It's fine. Just stay on the main strip and don't venture too far from there.

I have been to Cancun several times.....I put the Seiko on and leave expensive stuff at home in my safe. My wife (who is from Mexico) takes off the diamond ring and uses a plain gold band. You never want to attract attention much down there. My two cents.

Personally i wouldn't worry. I also didn't leave the resort when i was in Cabo 4 months ago. If you're really worried get yourself a SS rolex and call it a day. Watch around with a piece of mind.

I stayed at Westin Lagunamar and felt very safe around that area. Nice mall across the street.

I stayed at Me' Cancun, I left the nice stuff at home, but to be honest, everything felt very safe...compared to some parts of Baltimore and DC I have walked through.

Travel Cancun Rolex Tip!!!!!!!

Take it. You'll be fine and it'll have memories and you'll have a blast with it.

Go to Freds House if you want a special meal. It's across the street from JW Marriott. Run across fast though the cars won't stop for you

I've had AP's and Rolex on my wrist around Cancun/Playa/Tulum/Akumal/Mujeres/Cozumel area. Never stayed in a Resort, always rented an apartment. Been eating good food at food shacks where local working people eat, and never a problem. Been at the beach at night, walked dark streets at middle of night (not drunk) back to my apartment, never any problem.

I've always felt 100% safe in Mexico. Love the country. Took a while to let down my guards though!

Good read here. I'm heading to the Riviera Maya in 3 weeks and have been debating whether or not to take my 116610LN.

We're staying at the Hard Rock Resort and I'll probably only leave the resort for 1 or 2 day tours.

Just do it and enjoy it?
