Patek dials

Despite all the apparent Patek downfalls in recent times, PP really does make pretty wonderful dials and cases - probably the best across the board of comparable manufacturers. Sharing a new article from watchtime magazine I just read. Have a good weekend.

Dial on my 5131R is sublime.

I know this might be a controversial topic but I saw my first 5711P 40th in the flesh yesterday and the dial is absolutely stunning - the dial colour is mesmerising and almost seems liquid, it draws you in. The diamond markers are perfectly judged so as to be a special addition to the look without being at all obvious. Even the infamous 40th wording simply melts into the dial - so much so that I find it hard to believe Patek haven't done something to the dial since the original photos were produced for the launch - it is now so subtle that I simply can't so how the photos originally captured it so prominently.

Very nice article about the dial factory. The Stern family owned the dial factory before they became owners of PP but later sold the dial factory. They re-acquired ownership of the Cadran dial factory and produce most of their dials there. The 5131 and other hand-painted cloisonne enamel dials are done at the workshops of the enamel artisans. The CF dial factory also makes dials for AP and a few other Swiss watch companies.

Good read, thanks for sharing. That enamel sailing scene on the 175 Anniversary World Time dial is stunning.

Russell your 5131 definately seems more vibrant. Think it's the yellow and blue. Thought we would see more pictures of the 5711P Annuversary than we have on TRF and other forums. Nice to see it next to the standard 5711A

Russell love seeing your 5131R dial, do you have any other angles of it in natural daylight?? Would love to see more of it as much as I love this shot of it..

Last fall, touring the dial manufacture was a highlight of our trip and very much worth the drive of 2.5 hours from Geneva!
