The antique edge looks great on color 8. Some say that it's just trendy and black is the way to go, but I like it a lot.

I really like the antique edge. I have some LWB's with a black edge and have been wanting a pair with the antique edge.

I've been thinking about doing it myself. It seems pretty straight forward. Sand down the edges until the black coating is gone and apply a few layers of brown polish. I've seen people do it with good results. The welt will still be black, but that's actually how Alden has done some of their makeups (i.e., black welt and antique edge).

I used to participate frequently in the old thread that was retired...but I still look in from time to time. Lotta eye candy there.

I must admit that I think that these will be my next pair of shoes, IMHO, they look fabulous they are John Lobb Weir with a rubber sole.

Pick taken from the John Lobb site.

It could just be the pic, but those look pretty dark. That's not a bad thing, just an observation. Whiskey is the lightest of all cordovan colors next to natural.

I don't know much about JL, but those do look nice. Do you think you will get a lot of use out of them? They seem pretty formal.

Nice looking shoes. Similar to my City II's, but with a grained upper. Those will be sharp with a good polish on the cap toe.

Yeh, I hear where you are coming from Wes, I would actually wear these with jeans as well which would tone them down from formal, I quite like wearing black with jeans, they also do them in Plum. I don't want to make a mistake on these because they cost the same as two and a half pairs go C&J.

The Plum museum calf is a beautiful leather. And, IMO plum goes with a larger range of clothing than black.

I occasionally wear my black City II's with jeans. It's a sharp look. You really can't go wrong with either black or plum Dave. It's a tough decision.

Edit: Just Plum Phillips II, for example (not my image).

Yes, I agree Abdullah, it is a good problem to have, I do have some Burgundy Loake 1880 (Fabulous value) which are very nice and close to Plum in colour, you are right, they go with everything.

Bad photo.

I would strongly encourage you to look more at shoemakers such as JL, E.G., G&G, St Crispin if you have not done so. Your wallet might not thank me, but you will.

Overall a real great looking shoe.

I'm just not a fan of the use of the grain or textured leather on this one.

Very nice!!

The City II's and Philips are some of the best if not the most attractive cap toe oxfords out there.
