I'm partially paralyzed so I have to wind my Sub manually every few days. The last time I was winding the watch something seem to break free and now the crown just turns freely. I can no longer wind the watch and I cannot change the time or date. Does anyone have any idea what I could've broke and what those parts might cost. I'm already getting ready to send it to Vanessa just wanted to get an idea first. Thank you in advance

Stem most likely broke or your crown interlock is stripped was it hard to wind when it broke? Rikki

It will definitely need to be checked out by a watch maker.

As soon as the case back is removed, the crown and stem can be removed.

The diagnosis should be obvious at that point.

Good luck with your repairs.

Rikki, yes it did get harder to turn right before it gave way . Do you know it that is an expensive part to replace.

Many years ago I had the same thing happen on my 16713 GMT2, this then prompted me to think about getting it serviced as I had been putting it off anyway. I did a search ( long before I had found this forum ) ,and ended up speaking with a Rolex service chap and he was brilliant on the phone, he said it was a small issue and he would fix it at no extra cost when he had the watch in for the service.
He did not explain exactly what it was but at the time the service was £240 including insured postage and all parts etc.
I have used him since and so have three friends as well.

Stem probably snapped from wear of manually winding. A local watch maker could fix easily, cost probably $50-100
