GMT 1675 Advice

I've been looking at this 1675 but only have 3 not so good pictures from the seller. The serial is 3.42 mil based on info from the seller. Does the dial and bezel insert seem period correct based on this info?

Thanks in advance!

Dial is ok, insert is a replacement, but from the bottom pic the case looks horribly overpolished which would completely rule out this watch for me.

Looks like a very nice watch with a Mk-4 dial.
I would prefer to see an earlier dial but I'll just leave it that...
Again, very nice watch!

The crown guards and lugs look okay to me but I agree the last pic showing the lug holes makes it appear it has been over polished. I like the even patina on the dial but if it's not period correct that will keep me on the fence with the watch. The bracelet is period correct according to the seller but had been replaced.

At $6,100 I think it's a fair deal but not a great deal.

Really need some better pics. It's really hard to discern case quality with blurry photos

I don't like the lugs either. If I was in the market for a classic GMT I would only buy from fellow member Springer.

To the OP .... ask for better photos. You really can't make an informed decision based on those bad photos. And if the seller is reluctant or too lazy to provide them, I'd move on. It always shocks me when people trying to sell expensive watches don't take numerous detailed, sharp photographs. You see better photos on Craigslist for a $100 used Ikea couch.

The second GMT in the thread looks super nice!

X2...it is well within Mark II territory. The insert is much later but if you like it, I like it.

Guessing you have moved on from the first watch, its wayyyy too rolley poley ... the second is a clearly better example but more pics are a must to get a real assessment from the crew here. For example, it looks like the GMT hand is replaced but could be the pic and it looks like there is a box in the deal? Anything else, all details?

Finally, if you are going to look for advice on multiples, i would post them all in one thread at a time so the experts here can recommend one over the other. As you can see from the above you may not get as much feedback on watches you add later to the thread.

And yeah, check the sales board here. "Buy the seller. "

I appreciate all the input and replies so far. The seller has told me his father purchased the watch new in 1976 which would coincide with the serial range for a MK-4 dial. I'll confirm the case serial again but I tend to like the right MK dial and case being period correct. I know a few local watchmakers that have a nice stash of older inserts so that shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks again.
