Patek 6000g 10 or Aquanaut 5167 Stainless steel strap
Torn between these two beauties. Appreciate it's a first world problem but which would you choose?

6000g-010 (though, I'd take the 5167 over that on the ribber strap)

Aquanaut. Having come from a Calatrava I can tell you the aquanaut on a bracelet is a better all around watch. Loved the 5296 as it was a beautiful watch but there were things I did not like. Enough to push me to a Aquanaut.
1. Legibility. 2. Water resistance. 3. Bracelet vs Strap The dial on the Calatrava was beautifully finished. Impossible for me to read in low lighting. I also like a certain amount of lumunsence on a dial as well. The 5296 was water resistant enough, without the strap. But I would not jump into a pool with it. That strap was ultimately a dealbraker. If they made a SS 5296 with a milanese mesh band like the old Gay Freres bracelets and luminous hands and markers all I could say is here is my Amex.... PP Straps are beautiful, and highly vulnerable to water and sweat. There were times on business travel for example, I wanted to put the watch on and just start wearing it. Can't do that with a strap around water. During the Summer, the watch would feel like a wet rag on my wrist after walking a couple of blocks from my office. Nothing grosser feeling then a sweaty leather strap around your wrist. And nothing more distressing as you can feel the perspiration eat into that $400 piece of hide. The 6000 is a truly unique and beautiful watch. And I love the iconic design status of the calatrava line. I think the Aquanaut was just better for me personally. YMMV..... |

Couldn't agree more. Had the same 5296 and it lasted a month. At least I know that leather is out for me for the same reasons. Only steel or tropical. |

The Aquanaut is definitely more versatile. My leather strapped watches get almost no use once the weather starts warming up.

Right. And for me I hate the thought of shelling out that kind of money for a piece of machinery and not using it.

I'm now leaning towards the 6000g 10 grey dial
Wasn't blown away by 5167 when saw in the flesh The only other option I keep going back too is an AP 15300 white dial Seeing both tomorrow and will hopefully make a decision |

I would first put the 15300, not a huge fan of white dials, though I am getting the Daytona c in white, but it is amazing on the 15300 and the best white of all RO's, then 5167, I also wasn't impressed when I saw it, but in the sun it really pops, same for my 5167R, and last the 6000, but not a big dress watch fan, at least the two others can be worn in all situations and will look cool, you won't wear the 6000 in shorts...

One further question....re Patek 6000g , is it worth getting one with the Geneva stamp on movement. Are these earlier ones more collectible? Any thoughts helpful as very close to pulling trigger

I would get the 6000G, it's an interesting take on the Calatrava.
I am totally immune to the dubious charms of the Aquanaut, it just looks so cheap, IMO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pCJaP8TZIM |

Try the 5164 as well, more interesting and with more wrist presence.
