Help needed: 1978 oyster perpetual
I am considering buying a 1978 oyster perpetual Rolex, but I am not sure whether this one is a real one. Could you please be so kind and help me to have a look? The price is 3200 GBP, do you think that is a reasonable price? Thank you very very much
Here is the description the seller gave: BEAUTIFUL AUTHENTIC GENTS 18K WHITE GOLD & STAINLESS STEEL ROLEX OYSTER PERPETUAL DATEJUST WATCH. THE WATCH COMES WITH THE ORIGINAL ROLEX BOX AND ALSO A ROLEX SERVICE BOX, AS IT HAS HAD A RECENT FULL ROLEX SERVICE 12 MONTHS AGO. Is this on eBay? There is a listing on there for this watch that finished on 22 Mar, with the watch selling for £2550. Same pictures.

Gold hands? Pretty. DD box. Clasp with mirrored finish. Not a good start.

Dial is a Buckley which is good. Hands don’t match (should be black) which isn’t good. Clasp is over-polished. Box is original but not for that model. The case isn’t bad. Someone suggested it had been previously listed for £2500 which is more realistic, although still a little high.

Dial isn’t correct either. There shouldn’t be a gold coronet. Dial and hands are not for this watch.
