Having both - bluesy and the sub, I have to tell you the sub is very special. I find the date clutters the dial more than I thought it would. Yes the date function can be helpful, though it is funny when I really need to get the correct date, I double check on my phone anyways. Guess the same can be said for the time as well. So if I only had one Rolex, the submariner is the way to go in my experience.

They both look great, I say take what you can get, although I agree with you - no-date looks better.

If you can live with the date go for it else wait for the no date it will just take more time.

I purchased the No Date because I had a DJ41 before and hated always having to set the time. But if this is gonna be your one and only go Sub Date. I also hear that the ND Sub is harder to get to from my AD. Could be bollocks tho

I have a SubDate, but I agree with many fellow members that you should wait for the Sub, if that is what you really wanted in the first place. I'm sure if you explain to your SA that you want the Sub and not the SubDate, you will be allocated it. Both are beautiful, but I believe it is generally agreed that the SubDate is slightly harder to get from an AD, so the next Sub should be yours!

As an owner of both, I can honestly say that I am very glad I own them.

Out of many watches, only two of mine do not have dates. (14060M Submariner and 214270 Explorer.) More and more, for writing checks or filling out forms (Doctor office, others) I find myself looking down at the watch for the date. Miss it when it is not there.

However, I also very much love the symmetry of the no-date watches.

A real conundrum. Go with both. You will not regret having and not having a date feature. You only live once (or so "they" say.)

Another no date vote. You can keep track of the date with the bezel. The cyclops screams Rolex. If that’s what you want, because you want the date, like the look, for whatever reason, get it. The no date is understated, more under the radar, classically beautiful.

No date for me. The cyclops looks like a big cataract eye on the watch face to me.

I’ve just bought the no date and it’s amazing! I also have a bluesy though. You can’t go wrong with either but the dial on a no date is something else.

No date for me, I just can’t stand the blister on the crystal and don’t want or need a date function on my wrist watch.

+1. The GMT is so similar to the sub dial that the no date Sub looks a little different. Plus, the Sub was designed to be very easy to read while under water etc. less complicated face= easier to read.

I like them both, but ultimately for me I went for the no date. It's just a little bit more of a cleaner design.

Would I consider funds permitting a date version, yes absolutely but not at the expense of selling my no date as after all that was the watch I wanted.

I have been signed up for a long time on Sub with a date. In the meantime, I had an opportunity, and I bought a Sub from a friend without a date. In my work, I often use the calendar to schedule meetings, deliveries, orders, etc. Sub without a date did not meet my expectations and quickly went to people. For me, a more universal watch is a Submariner with a date.

My vote is for Date and it's not close. It's a very simple basic complication that most consider useful and there's is very little downside to having it. If you like the way it looks by all means go for it. I think the Sub looks much better with the date and I'm glad mine has it. Not sure which has better resale...date or no date...perhaps someone else could elaborate on that?

And anyway, Sub without a date is austere and therefore beautiful, but of little use in everyday life ;)

Go with the no date. That way, there’s room for a GMT (more differentiation between the two).

i had a 11610LN and sold it as i didnt get on the with the super case but was fine with the date complication

then a friend got a super case (no date) submariner and i loved the look of the dial without the date so much i put my name down for one about 4 months ago at my AD. in the meantime came the model revision on 1.9.20 and i had not received my watch. happy ending my 124060 arrived in my hands last saturday and i am a very happy camper indeed

my advice go see the date sub but only buy if you really like it - my suspicion is that you really want a sub without a date wheel that is what you should hold out for

I’ve always wanted a date function on my watch, because I thought I need it. However, I’ve grown to love the simplicity and symmetry on the dial of my watches. The Explorer I, Tudor BB58, and Submariner. Get the no date Sub; There’s always the phone to tell you the date. Save the $$$ to put toward the GMT or the Green Submariner, those come with the date function!

LV only comes with date so there really is no choice.

Around here people will tell you the no date. In the real world people will wonder why you bought a Rolex with no cyclops.
