Anyone actually have the new WG YM yet?
Would appreciate first impressions.
Thanks.

I think there have been a couple of incomings here. Hopefully they will chime in.

I have seen a WG and RG YM and I have to say that they both look great. Love the rubber strap feel too. The black bezel realy looks good in person.

If you are referring to ref 226659, then yes I have seen it at my local AD. I really think it looks great. WG, 42 mm, matte black cerachrom bezel. Watch looksgreat, but you have to be OK with the oyster flex bracelet. Some may not like the oysterflex.

I suspect you are right but can’t imagine why since so many love to buy aftermarket rubber straps. The oysterflex is very well designed and with the glidelock makes sizing a cinch after you pick the right size for the rubber portion. Too bad this reference was out of my budget range |

Had a chance to try it on a few weeks ago. It looked nice in person, the glidelock was very, very nice.
I felt the hourly markers were too big for my tastes, the watch just overall felt oversized for me and my wrists, but could see a more built and taller person having the perfect fit for this watch. Also came off as a bit monochromatic in person as opposed to the RG YM OF and also having the red lettering there break out the look a bit. But I'm also a Daytona-holic with 2 OF Daytonas...so I passed on it. |

I have not seen this watch in person but I do like it. This is one on the bucket list for ownership. It will probably be a few years down the road as I would like to get it with a significant discount and pre-owned.

Thanks for the comments folks.
I personally love all watches on rubber. And the 116655 is one of my “lifers”. I’m going to look at this new version tonight. The WIS in me wants to walk out with it. But I’m having a tough time justifying the cost vs having something so similar. I’ve got the RG on for comparison. I’ll be sure to take a few side by side pics.

My buddy got it the other week and let me sport it for the evening. It's a tremendous piece. The weight feels just right and the OF bracelet fits snug. The glide clasp is an added benefit as well. When looking at it the word "stealth" comes to mind as most of the gold is muted by the black. It can seem somewhat "luggy", but if so long as you dont have a total chicken wrist it'll fit fine.
If it was within my means it would be in my collection for sure. Good luck OP! |

I also do not prefer the larger indices on it and I also cant stand the 2 different hand sizes.
The RG is much more elegant than the WG. Even if the WG was out when I was in the market I still would have chose my RG.

I was fortunate enough to pick one up from my AD the only one they have received. Very special piece...surprisingly rare and hard to get. Wears great on my wrist I love it. Lots of unique details.

It just looks like a Submariner on Rubber B to me.

I don’t really understand why this Yachtmaster “is the way it is?” The Yachtmaster has always been the dressier, (lack of a better word) blingy-er version of the Submariner. They always had shinier bezels, shinier dials, shinier bracelets. Of course, the YMII took this to the max. But this version does look like a bigger Sub on a Rubber B. It just doesn’t seem like a “Yachtmaster” to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

A truly beautiful watch.
Definitely bigger than the 116655. (Obviously). Nice curved lugs. It’s truly a stunning watch.

I am an all siver tones person; every watch I own is either SS, WG, or Plat. But in this case I prefer the RG of the two: the gold color pops against the black yet it is more subtle than an all gold watch. Just one guy's opinion.

I also tried it on both when it was first released as well as this past weekend. Love the matte finish and really looks elegant yet sporty but at the end of the day, agree with above posts that it also resembles a sub on a rubber B.

Sadly, I passed.
Anyone lucky enough to have this watch is exactly that...lucky. But it’s too similar to my RG. And I just wasn’t willing to part with the cash. I love my AD. They are super to me. And the lovely owner asked that if I buy it, I don’t sell it. I have too much respect and appreciation for her to take the chance. If I could have moved it along in a few months, if I didn’t want to keep it, I’d have likely taken the risk. But for a definitive keeper, I decided to pass and wait for the next watch I’m hoping will come in soon.

You made the right move Seth - this watch pops in the RG.

I tried the RG on when it first came out and liked it but didn't love it. The WG however ticked all the right boxes for me. I am more of a WG person anyway but I think it was the size that did it for me.
I've just come back from a 2 week holiday in Florida and wore the watch every day. Pool, beach, theme parks etc. It was absolutely perfect for it. The strap is extremely comfy and the mini glide-lock was perfect when in the heat and humidity of the parks during the day and a nice cool restaurant at night! I honestly do not have one bad thing to say about it!! I can understand however not pulling the trigger if you already own the RG version. |

I would have stayed put, too. The RG is a much better looking watch, IMO.
