Rolex Policy

Hi All,

After speaking to an AD I’m after buying three watches in one go, I have been told it’s Rolex policy that you can only buy two in a monthly period, has anyone else heard this?

First I’ve heard, and likely nonsense. Might be AD policy, but also sounds like nonsense.

ADs control their stock, ultimately they’ll sell you as much or as little as they want

Which 3 watches would you like to buy in one go?

Maybe they think you are a grey dealer who wants to flip the watches for an easy and fast profit.

I imagine the salesman came up with this one in an attempt to persuade you to buy the two Datejusts that you require for your parents 60th birthday's, without bundling them with the Sub you want!

If this has anything to do with the bundle deal you were asking about, 2 DJs + 1 Sports, it does sound like they don’t want to accommodate you on your terms.

Sounds like bs. But hey, so does restricting the supply of sports models, so who knows.

If it is in this case, take the Sub. first and the others later.

Or put the third one in your parents name.

Have to agree and must admit there is a lot of these types of BS posts lately on forum, but its what the newer members like to read the more BS the better. Once TRF was a forum to discuss topics about the watches and history of the Rolex brand but now its what's it worth, hot this and that, my AD said this or that etc.

There is no such Rolex policy. It's either the AD's policy or the SA made it up.

That might be that dealers policy but it's definitely not a Rolex policy, or that one watch is promised to someone else and they didn't have a chance to take it out of the case before you went in.

Shop policy only, but if you want to buy three other models than surely they forget about their policy

I haven't come across this with Rolex but I believe Chanel restrict the number of bags they sell to a single client in a six month period.

Half the BS attributed to Rolex is actually AD’s coming up with not so bright ideas they can blame someone else for.

Watches of Switzerland has the ‘rule’ that a client can’t purchase more than three professional models in a rolling twelve month period - I’m at my ‘limit’ so let’s see how strongly this is enforced as I’m crossing my fingers for some incomings....

ADs want to spread the product around many VIPs to grow their business. They all do this since late summer of 2017 when the shortages started. Not good business to load up one customer with the hot models.

Don't forget the "what's my chances of getting a Daytona or LV or BLRO without a sales history" and "what watch do you complete strangers think best suits me"

But I digress, OP it's complete BS and either a way for the SA to get you to only take the DJ's or AD policy to prevent bulk sales for some absurd reason, not like you are taking a bunch of rare SS's models bundled with PM pieces, which is the standard flipper package these days.

The games being played by the ADs these days are getting out of hand...I’ve never heard of such a rule! Then again it seems like they have the power to just make up rules so you never know...

1000%

The AD:
-Invents a shortage
-Artificially controls the market
-Loses control
-Creates the flipper
-Backpedals

kinda reminds me of the Fed

I was once told something to the same effect that can't sell multiple sports watches to the same client in one month. But everything is negotiable. Depends on what you want to buy and how they feel about combining pieces in one sale. Also it seems you didn't buy anything yet. They may not have what you are looking for and can be hard to get multiples in one go because they just don't have the stock.
