Box choice: which one of these two?

I’m buying a 5513 Submariner, and the seller can include one of these two boxes, my choice.
Modern one vs vintage coffin one.

Preferences? Any difference in value?

Thanks for sharing your opinion.

A box is just a box and as both boxes are not original to the watch in question, as for value the main thing is the watch and not a box, and the red plastic chronometer tag means nothing as the 5513 were not certified chronometers .

The older box. Looks more in line with the age of the watch.

One more vote for old, presumably original era.

I see the modern ones come up for sale often, the vintage ones are harder to get.

My vote is for the vintage one, but as suggested not if the interior is in shambles.

I would probably lean towards the box most original to the watch.

I wouldn't want a modern box for a vintage watch.
If possible I'd try to source a box that was true to that reference.

Go with the older box. Its probably not original to the watch but neither is thenother box. You could probably sell the older box for money if you wanted.

Take the new one since he's giving it to you anyway, and use that as your daily sleeping quarters for your baby but do this:

Go online and look for a complete box set original to the submariner of your serial# year. They are out there. The watches are long since sold off, but collectors have the boxes and booklets and all of that stuff separate and you can buy it as a complete set to go with your watch. There were a few for sale on Chrono24 just last weekend.

I know because I am looking for a fun and unique vintage Rolex watch box to use for my new OP 36 so I don't need to keep using the original green Rolex box that came with it. I would rather store that with the outer box and all of the tags and papers in my closet and use something else as the daily storage. As I am looking for Rolex boxes all of these submariner sets popped up.

I think the old one is only a service box, the one Rolex used to return a watch after service.

Here's what I am talking about. These are for sale right now in the classifieds by a trusted seller here. These are all over the place both here and over on Chrono24 and Watchuseek. That's why I say take the nice, new box and then go get an actual correct vintage box set for your watch. Don't take that old and dusty afterthought box that isn't correct to your watch anyway, just because it's free.

This is a fair suggestion as well
