New Member from San Diego

Greetings all,

I wanted to take some time to introduce myself and possibly make some friends locally here in San Diego. Moved to San Diego from "The Big Apple" almost a year ago to escape the bitter cold. I have been blessed with the fine California weather- and watch enthusiasts that i have met on the IWC Shaffausen tour.

Biggest 2 passions in life; espresso and watches.
- the next time when you visit Bali, please try the coffee beans harvested during the mating season of the civet cats!

Hope to be welcomed to the family :) thank you!

Welcome to TRF from a fellow San Diegan!

You'll love it... I was born and raised in SD and there's no other place like it.

Coincidentally, I'm also from New York. But I'm from upstate NY. I also lived in western NY before I moved to CA. I've been in Cali since 1990 though, more than half my life, so I think I'm a Californian now more than anything. I married a SoCal girl and my son is born and raised.

No place finer than San Diego.

Can't bring myself to try it knowing that the coffee beans have something to do with their poop!

Yea, I was all against it in the beginning but was talked into trying it during my stay in Bali. Even if you decides to forgo the "Poop Kopi", local Balinese coffee is really good when prepared correctly. :)

I'm really not snobbish

This is turning into a full time job responding to such nice people on the forum.

Andrew, UK is great! I actually proposed at "The Shard".

Only thing is.. She is totally AGAINST ROLEX!

!
Why? They are reliable, beautiful timepieces and they hold their value better than most other watches. They are also made entirely in house by Rolex which is kind of cool and unique in the watch business.

Life in san Diego definitely takes time getting use to. Heck, I'm still trying to get use to the life on the coast.

Few things I preferred-
Call me crazy but I love driving in NYC! However. People in California are super friendly and forgiving when needing to merge in last minute, which I have refrained from doing. ;)

Rhythm is slower and at times I wondered if Californian even worked for living. Till this day, I see them chilling at coffee shops with nice accessories, which continue to baffles me.

I do miss the riverside park by 90th st; overlooking Hudson river. It's great to clear your head sitting on the rocks, but the oceanside in San diego just feels different. It can never truly replace the clam and trequlity of the hudson.

San diego have healthy alternatives but if you want more varieties, obviously NYC is the place to be. I would however suggest that beef sold in super market are definitely more premium that in NYC.
