Omega and official Olympic timing
I realize timing to the ten-thousandth of a second has been done by computers for decades. So does Omega actually have a hand in this or do they simply sponsor the display of event timing?

In response to the OP, I believe that Omega do develop their own timing equipment, and they're very keen to emphasise that they are the official timekeeper, not a sponsor |

I'll gladly lighten up, and tip my cap to you for clearly being the winner of internet forums. Nothing like a little gamesmanship to make your point.

If there was ever a timing fiasco at the olympics, it would reflect very badly on Omega, and for that reason alone, I'm sure Omega has a very big hand in making sure nothing goes wrong. While being the official timekeeper is a great honor and marketing tool, it could also blow up in their face if something went wrong.
