New special addition Omega watch for Vancouver olympics

Omega has (per my understanding) released a special addition of 2010 Omega Seamaster watches for the Vancouver Olympics.

Would anybody know what these are selling for?

+1 They look great with that red bezel but really, unless there's some occasion to celebrate or you have excess cash to lose, wait a bit.

I'm not a fan myself, it didn't quite look right in the flesh, but if you like the Olympics and want a pretty cool piece of memorabilia, then snap it up if you can get a good price

That's not bad looking. I'm usually not a fan of the skeleton hands (prefer the sword hands), but they look pretty good on that Seamaster. I'm not sure I'd buy one, but it's interesting. It's kind of weird how they canted the Olympic rings like that.

That white dial and the red bezel are sweeeeet. The bracelet is awesome...the best looking and built, if you ask me. It's just too time specific if that makes sense.... The Olympics are 2 weeks, and it's over...where does that leave this time piece down the road??? Maybe I'm nuts...Help me out! It's not going to be a classic Omega....is it???

I asked an omega dealer in SF today and they said it retails for $3400. She also said she had been sold out of them for 3 weeks and was trying to get some more.

Tourneau at the Forum Shops Las Vegas quoted my $3,800 as retail and were willing to give me 20% off...This was about 3 weeks ago...It is very nice piece but I don't care for the white dial etc...Red Bezel is very cool though...As of last week Monday they still had it in store...

It's very flashy and does catch the eye...My wife fell in love with the mid-size version but not enough to pay roughly $3,100 for it...

saw one or two on craigslist in toronto..

I'm a frequent lurker of craigs browsing for local watches and i saw one or two of them for sale. They seemed pretty legit (box, cards, etc) and the guy wanted 2700 CAD a piece. Im not completely sure but I think i remember them on there before the games had begun.. If they were the real deal then someone must be happy.. lol. Not my cup of tea though, I'm not diggin the olympic logo on the second hand, nor am I a fan of the skeleton hands(prefer the sword hands) or that bracelet..I do like the red bezel though. But hey, to each his own.

I'm guessing the $3800 above is for the 41mm and the $3400 is for the 36mm.

I believe current list price for a similar non-Olympic 41mm Seamaster is about $3400 so it doesn't seem like a huge premium for the Olympic version.

I can't seem to find an emotional attachment to the limited edition series watches - ie. 007 or Olympics.

Personally, I think it detracts from the brands strategy. Like many have posted, Omega/ADs are forced to sell them at drastic discounts when they don't sell during their prime - which ultimately dimishes the brand value IMHO.
