What do you think of the SS Daytona black dial?
What do you think of the SS Daytona black dial? Just got mine today, i find it to be quite light and very sparkly inspite of the fact that its only Stainless Steel (i may be biased as its my first Rolex watch) Seems it retains its value much better than the half-gold or even full gold counterparts.
I saw the GMT 2 and its nice, it has risen in price to 10,500 SGD in Singapore. Not a bad piece but i still like the Daytona better. |

I saw one in person, RogerF's, and I found it hard to read (my opinion). Better to get a white dial Daytona.

Agree with Vernon. A beautiful watch if you like chronos, but difficult to read on account of the black dial. I think MOST chronos are hard to read, but the black dial on the Daytona complicates it a bit more. Congrats on a great watch, though!

I was always under the impression that the white Daytona looked better than the black....until I saw them both. The black wins by a mile!!

Thanks so much for the encouragement everyone, i got it cheap i think, 18,600 from Dickson. There is a pre-owned shop selling the same for 18,500 so i got mine comparatively cheap.
It also proves the value of the watch as the pre-owned store told me that its the first one they seen in months and its the very first time they have a stainless steel, black dial one. Got a Explorer 1 for my missus and thinking of going after a Yachtmaster black dial next. Though black dials aren't as readily visible as a white one, i still find that its very cool. Cheers all!! |

The black dial is more in demand in Asia, and personally I think the black dial looks better than the white one. Congrat on the Daytona.

Any Daytona is a winner in my book, but I think the black dial is better looking (JMO)! Congrats on an excellent timepiece! Now, on with the photos!

Between the White and Black Dial Daytona, I like the look of the Black Dial. Although, it is a little harder to read than the white, I enjoy being on the dark side of the moon!!

The SS Daytona is a nice piece, but not for me. I don't like the polished center links and bezel. I don't like the lack of a date and I have no use whatsoever for a chronograph. I had one on 2 occasions and sold them both. I think a lot of the appeal is the scarcity.

Well, I like both the Black and the White Faced Daytona.
But for what it's worth: In some parts of the world, there IS a premium on the grey market on the BLACK Face Daytona. There seems to be fewer of them out there.
