Time Capsule 1680?

What am I missing vintage connoisseurs...? This time-capsule 1680 with 2023 RSC service papers has been available for nearly a month. All it lacks--that I can tell--is original punch papers. Thoughts from the vintage experts...

Looks like a nice watch, heavily prepped for sale. The warranty papers, which are missing, are the only accessory with significant value, so I'd just ignore the accessories, TBH. I'm skeptical of the claims in the listing.

Obviously the case was redone. Who knows what else was added along the way.
Nice looking watch though..

Yes, a reasonably nice piece at a fair-ish price, but not in any way cheap. It's had a steep sided 60° service plexi fitted at RSC btw....Tbh, the papers are the main thing, the rest, sea horse box or white and cream box, vinyl wallet, both 70s books, green raised crown, red non hologram, 70s calender, 73 translation, anchor, can be accumulated for c £900 to £1250 - .

Description is exaggerated, which is a turnoff. Watch is not unworn with all original parts as stated. Case refinishing is overdone. Those are the things that jump out.

Still, a nice-looking red Sub, but I'd actually prefer one that's a little rougher with more soul.

The service crystal goes against the seller claim that the watch is “unworn”

Thanks everyone for your comments... I am smitten with the stunning matte dial and matching patina of the pearl, lume plots and hands. The bezel and dial appear original or a dead-on perfect match.
I agree Aaron, the highly refurbed case has stripped away much of the "soul" and character.

Yes, it’s been polished but it’s a beauty!

It’s been repolished and case recut - look at how the holes are very close to the chamfers.

Nice one, most probably polished of course but does not look like a heavily abused one which is back from 100 hrs of laser welding plastic surgery.
Dial, hands, insert beautifully matching.
Bracelet seems in very good condition, without any sign of huge restauration.
Correct crown
Regarding the plexy could well be a mandatory item from the RSC due to the age of the original one, hard to guess anything just from this.

I would be happy with this one in my watch box !

I like the redone chamfers, very sharp.

Wear it and it will get character soon enough again

Those lug holes are too close to the edge for me, I'd look to add some metal.

Unworn?

At best the seller is clueless, at worst dishonest. I would consider alternative options.

In the minority here, but I actually like the watch, not the asking price. The ad details are ofcourse wrong.

Not here to back up the seller, I don’t know him, haven’t bought from him and I also think he is trying to sell a fake white 1680 dial on C24.

But regarding this specific watch, I have received pictures of serial and reference number, both are really clean, not what you would expect from a watch that needed laser welding to be sold.
I have also received pictures of the watch before the service and polishing (both done by the RSC according to the seller) and all I can say is that it was in extremely good condition before the service.

A few comments are extremely hard IMO without much space left for doubts about what we don’t know.

Can you share those pictures?

BTW - I agree with you about the fake 1680 dial.

Yeah, good spots ttg and Xavier - that dial is off in many many ways...all whites have the crossing of the f level with the crossing of t, this style is very odd.....doesn't bode well if a seller doesnt know/care !!

It's all moot now guys...the listing has been pulled down. I loved the watch but it was a little more than I was willing to pay. I appreciate everyone's input.
