5726 vs 5712

Hey forum friends, i'd like to have your advice on this one.

I'm thinking of getting myself either a 5726 or a 5712. I currently have a 5164 so i'm wondering which Nautilus would work well with the Aquanaut. Here are the pros and cons of each piece so far:

5726
Pros: 120m water resistant, annual calendar (true Patek complication)
Cons: a bit thick, same 324 base movement as my 5164, a bit tricky to set

5712:
Pros: thinner than 5726, 240 base movement (more fancy than the 324 imho and different from my 5164)
Cons: 60m water resistance, more basic complication than 5726

Thanks in advance for your input!

They are very different watches. One is a blue asymmetrical masterpiece with a lovely micro-rotor; the other is a gray/white symmetrical dial with an useful AC complication, albeit in a thicker case.

I have the 5712, and is currently waiting for the 5726. So my answer is to get both if you can.

I'd go with the 5712.

5726 vs 5712

5712. The better nautilus with a uniqueness/flair in the nautilus lineup. If you dont like to wear gold, then id say 5726 which would also be easier to obtain or if you dont mind gold, there are many Patek annual calendar models. The 5712’s power reserve, moon-phase and separate second hand complications make it a head to head with the new 5740g.

Dont forget the micro winding mass rotor! Very few Patek models utilize it, giving you more viewing pleasure out of the movement unhindered

Don’t spoil the poll with pictures.

Did I vote for the correct one?

I chose the 5726/1a and the 5712r. If I could only have one, I’d probably go with the 5712 SS. My only issue with the Nautilus bracelet is the lack of adjustment. But, the leather strap is not adjustable either. I do like the PM Nautilus, and after 6 months of occasional wear, the strap broke in nicely.

It’s personal preference between those two. For me, it’s 5726 all day everyday!! I like the thickness, to me, that’s a pro not a con. Never liked 5711, 5712. I have 5980R and 5726/1A, waiting for 5990. The thickness is what a sports watch supposed to feel.

I’m a fan of the 5726 but the 5712 really is something else, pictures don’t do it justice, needs to be seen in the flesh.

5712 10 times a week. The chameleon blue, cal 240, the dial layout and thin profile are winners. Thickness of the 5726 is a deal breaker for me.

That would be some stiff competition for the 5740g.

How can the 5726 be better? The only way is maybe if you like the nautilus design and need a annual calendar function. The 12 has many unique features, offcentred dial, power reserve, micro rotor, moonphase, seprate second hand with a interesting blue/grayish dial. If you want a AC, there are many Patek models that have that function.

Just a personal preference, we are allowed to have them, I just think the dial is cleaner

The 12 being a bit skewy, I did love it when I had it, but it lead to better things

I mentioned earlier that I like more the 5712, but as mentioned in this forum that the 5726 might be discounted I’ll re think.
