If you read the books, Bond is quite a snob: he dislikes “showy” things. In the 50’s Rolex was a well regarded tool watch, but now they are often regarded as well engineered jewellery. I think a modern Bond would avoid Rolex simply as it’s so well known, so Tudor would seem a better fit.

I agree the Submariner is perfect for this role. But wasn't the real bond watch the Explorer 1? Flemming himself was known to wear one, but I don't think the books ever specified which Rolex model.

Fleming did wear a 1016 Explorer, but it was never explicitly stated in the novels that Bond wore the model. That didn't stop one member here from going to some great lengths to argue that Bond did indeed wear an Explorer in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Decide for yourself:

Daniel Craig is a Rolex wearer... That's good enough for me.

Daniel Craig has not been spotted wearing a Rolex for quite a few years as he became a Omega ambassador around the time of Skyfall. He wears Aqua Terras mostly out and about and a few months ago even the Bullhead

Why would Bond wear the generic version of a Rolex? Mr. Bean sure. Bond-no chance in hell.

Bond would be wearing an Explorer 39mm imo. As did Fleming... but the 36mm version.

Hah, I think each one probably has his own merit...

Btw , who was the last Bond to wear a Rolex Sub ?
I haven't watched all of them ...Yet.

And yes, I think Bond should wear a Rolex...

It always will be the Bond watch in my eyes. On-screen, Daniel Craig wears Omega. Off-screen, Rolex. Nuff said.

Timothy Dalton sported a Rolex during his outing as Bond.

As mentioned, it was Timothy Dalton. Specifically, in License to Kill in 1989, Dalton wore a then-new 16610. (He wore a TAG Heuer in The Living Daylights in 1986.) Omega struck a placement deal with the franchise starting with Pierce Brosnan in 1995, and there hasn't been a Rolex in sight since.

Not sure that Omega will let go of that contract easily or whether Rolex even cares, but I still view the Sub as "the" Bond watch.

Rolex was the original Bond watch. In the movies yes Dr No, Sean sports a subbie but in the original novels I believe bond wore a OP. Either way Bond and Rolex go together.
