What has more wrist presence? GMT TT Root Beer or SS black dial Skydweller?

I think I have narrowed it down to one of these two for my next purchase.

What do you guys feel has more wrist presence? I know the rose gold is not as flashy as the yellow gold, obviously. However.....it's still TT and gold.

I feel the SD looks like just another DJII at first glance.

I rate the Black Sky Dweller, In fact I think the black and yellow gold SD is stunning. I have an original root beer.. The new one is nice but the sky Dweller is king

I think they both do but in different ways... The SD has that fluted bezel sparkle that brings the presence but the CHNR has the multi color effect that also delivers on the wrist presence front. I think its six of one / half dozen of the other honestly. Both would be hitters on the wrist!!

That's a close call but I'd give it to the SkyD with its sharp contrasts and that blingy bezel.

The size and iconic look of the SKYD kills it. Root beer is an off color GMT

While Yellow gold can look flashier, more bling, whatever - Rose Gold has the 'uniqueness factor' which might attract a attention in a different way.

Both are killer watches regardless of the 'livery'. In my usual round-about-way I'd go for the SeaDweller but, hell it's a tough call.

CHNR by a mile has more wrist presence. Hands down the most noticed watch I have ever owned. It gets compliments by every age group. I use to think yellow gold stands out more as I owned a Bluesy for 18 years but I am now starting to thing the Everose is just more universally interesting for people to take notice of it. 30 years of Rolex ownership and the CHNR is a rock star.

The CHNR definitely has a more polarizing wrist presence. Though it won’t stop me from wanting a Sky Dweller.

That's the thing. The SD is 42mm.....I feel it wears smaller due to the fluted bezel being smaller while the GMT's wear bigger due to larger bezels.

If you saw two people next to each other with a SD on and the other having a GMT....you would not tell they were different sizes.

I like them both. However, only one can come home with me. I have a black 116710LN now....I don't know that the SD really looks that much different from the LN to most. The 2MM size difference is not going to be noticeable to anyone. I'm afraid the SD will look like any other plethora of SS black dial Rolexs....GMT, Sub, DeepSea, Datejust, etc. Don't get me wrong...those are great watches! However, the SD is also 2x the cost of these watches right now....so you can see why I ask. It's like buying an S-Class that most might confuse with a C-Class. The C-Class is nice I'm sure...but you didn't pay $100k to have your car confused as a $30k entry level car.

CHNR.

The SkyDweller movement is boss. However, the dial is a little busy and less traditional. The chinner (that is a horrid name for the CHNR, let's never use it again) is baller. The rose gold and the bold numbered bezel is ridiculous.

Define "wrist presence". Is it a good thing or a bad thing for you?

TT will always be more noticeable.

Root Beer as well. TT will always supersede any white-metal monochrome watch. Referring to Rolex tange of course.

Yeah, good question. This could mean different things for different people. I mean it in a good way....in other words, what has the most curb appeal as opposed to something that is boring/plain?

I feel the SD might be a bit too run of the mill just because it's the plain old SS with black dial....again, like a lot of other Rolexes. I am not a fan of the blue dial let alone fan enough to pay $7k over MSRP. I also don't like the TT SD with the black (see below....I assume same reasoning as to why I was disappointed with the DJII).

I get what you guys are saying about the fluted bezel being blingy.....but honestly, I thought the same about the DJII from pics on here. I thought I wanted that watch originally (DJII...either in TT black/gold or Wimbledon). However, when I actually had those two versions on my wrist....I was not at all impressed. The bezel was small on the DJ (as opposed to the GMT). Same with the SD....the bezel seems larger than the DJ but not as big as the GMT's bezel (this likely is perception due to the layout of the GMT bezel with the large numbers). Also, the size. You would naturally think a 42mm SD would have won bigger than a 40mm GMT. However, I tried on a white face SD yesterday and it really didn't seem at all bigger than the GMT....I wouldn't have known there was a difference if I didn't know beforehand the MM of the GMT vs SD.

When I came into this a few months ago (about deciding to get a new watch), I thought I needed something with gold. My first choice was the DJII....but like I said, I was really disappointed when I had it on my wrist. Then my attention turned to the TT yellow gold GMT...which I liked better (remember, I have a 116710LN now and love it...so it seemed like an obvious choice). Then I started to ponder the full YG GMT....but I'm not yet ready to spend $30k on a watch. Then I started to come back to the Root Beer....but then naturally I wondered whether the Root Beer was worth the $5k premium over what I could get the yellow gold TT GMT for. The Skydweller just kind of entered in there somewhere since I liked the black dial/SS (I obviously am more of a sport watch guy hence why I likely didn't like the DJII). I just don't know the SD is that much different than the 116710LN....and for $17k that would be a waste to realize that after the fact.

I think it's obvious I'm leaning towards the TT GMT either in rose or YG. If the SD were Yachtmaster II size (44MM)...that would be enough of a size difference to justify the price to me and probably separate itself enough from my 116710LN.

Part of me also wants to get the watch that will hold value even for just maybe 2 years....to where I can then trade up and get the YG GMT (which is definitely my grail). I am thinking I likely am safe with either the SD or Root Beer in terms of getting what I pay two years from now.
