Consolidate 6 to only one # 228206

This idea has been on my mind for quite a while now, I have over the years made myself a nice collection of watches.
However I have yet to tread into the realm of precious metals. To tell you the truth the day date 40 platinum diagonal motif has been on my mind for a while.

As I have promised my self not to spend any more money on any more watches I my only alternative is to part with a few of my prized possessions

Has any one done this ? Is it better to have a single “super watch” rather than a few nice ones ? Is it practical? Did anyone of you guys do this and subsequently regret it ?

Having a PM piece, I find it important to have at least one SS piece to rotate to.

The pt day date is a fantastic piece though

I’ve consolidated for PM, but never where it was down to a one and only. I would have to at least have one SS Rolex....JMO. It is a beautiful watch, but I’d want to keep one of the others as well, the LV would be my choice out of your collection.

If you’re good with two.....that’s an excellent duo!

Good to go then in my opinion. They would make a nice duo.

Personally, I would do it. The only one I would be hesitant to sell/trade is the 16710 BLRO. That is the only one that would be a little harder to replace, but still not impossible. All the rest would be good to go. Platinum is like nothing else......it’s AWESOME..........Coming from someone with a Platinum Daytona.

Yes I would do that for sure. You get to a point where it becomes quality outweighs quantity.

Not much can beat a Plat DD40 - one of the heaviest hitters in the watch game.

You know that Platinum DD is one heavy beast? Comparatively to all your other watches I dont think it'd be super comfortable in the long run as a daily. You need something to offload your wrist from when wearing heavy pieces. Personally I dont wear anything almost Mon-Fri and then get on a heavy piece for the weekend.

That’s my favorite DD of all. I would do that for sure.

That would be ideal. Then maybe add another SS for good measure later on. In a few months maybe.

I would rather have 2 super nice watches than six. But won't those Panerai really take a beating on resale?

My vote is go for it. If you are not opposed to pre-owned, that would be the best route. It may be easier to replace any one of the six at a later date or you miss it.

Hmm, 5 or 6 down to 1 is tough, but the DD is very nice, no doubt. I‘ve consolidated and expanded and consolidated and... that‘s the hobby, go for it!

Do it. No point in having too many watches.

A platinum on bracelet will be quite a heavy watch to wear as a daily. Have you tried it on? Otherwise a Daytona and a DD will make a good two-watch Rolex collection.

I say do it!

Side note - has anyone else noticed a pattern of these "consolidating entire collection to one piece" threads over the past few days? Coincidence?

Hmm...tough one. I say go for it, but I wouldn't let the Pepsi go, my two cents.

If you're scraping that hard, then don't do it.

I’d keep the Pepsi as well.
