Well, I have a SS and WG SkyD. Perfect rotation. If it ever arrives in PT, I'll get that too.

Frankly I'd much prefer the Day Date Pt to the combination of watches you have. I don't think for a new DD you can do it with what you're trading in alone. Seems like it'll take some out of pocket cash as well. I just went through the same thought process ending up with a new Platona. I loved the diagonal motif as well but in the end thought the Daytona just a prettier watch.

Icon5 228206 is a beautiful piece

Don't take this the wrong way but may I ask...

I'm curious as to why you are not acquiring a DD maybe in WG first before you go full Platinum?

I think of that too for this. Thankfully not obsessively. I do enjoy my hard earned collection and don't have the nerve right now to try and pull that one off. Best wishes on whatever you decide.

Agree. To be honest it can be a little tedious having like 7. Three choice pieces is like the sweet spot where you can to cycle them well without preference. Personally though I don’t know what those three would be since I prefer the c500 as my daily now. When I cycle, I can’t help wishing I wore the Daytona instead.

He said he liked the diagonal motif of the Pt; not certain why one would get other that what they like.

Go ahead and cut down your collection to maybe 2 i don't see a point in having too many watches that would not get too much attention on the wrist.

I’ll be that guy ... and say no.

I’ve contemplated something similar but in the end could never do it. Something
tells me there’s no end game watch for me, and I’d likely be bored with less variety.

To each their own, but I say keep what you have and save for the PT.

With the watches you’ve shown in your pics, if I were you, I’d be good with trading them all in, except for maybe one to keep as a low-key beater, towards a platinum DD40.

That DD40 is a “death watch”. Meaning you’ll be happy keeping it until you kick the bucket. The others are fine watches, but they aren’t mesmerizing like the DD40 is.

i agree. 1 SS and 1 PM. either the LVC or 16710.

I would do it. I did it recently with an AP offshore and an IWC Yacht Club for a RG DD. I do have a SS Sub, a TT Sub and a PM Sub as well but only wear the PM Rolex’s. I guess my point is, for me, I really only rotate between two anyways.

Since you have a beater (the Daytona), I’d do it. Love that watch.

Such a cool piece. I hope you'd wear it....A LOT.

It would be very hard for me to let the LVc and BLRO go. You may well kick yourself for that.

Just stopping back by and noticed this would be a consolidation to the DD while retaining a SS Daytona. Knowing there’s an SS to rotate to I’m 100% in favor. Two thumbs up!

Nope, not for me. I much prefer your current collection to one DD. Just too drastic of a change + you have some really nice watches + that DD doesn’t make up for what is lost (IMO).

I would consider flipping (i) Pepsi + (ii) the TT DJ + (iii) one of Panerai + (iv) Tudor chrono for a RG YM (love that watch and think it would go great in your collection):

* black DaytonaC
* RG YM on Oysterflex
* LVc
* 372 or 422

Just my two cents.
