Look at it this way, in 30 years folks on here will be ooooing and ahhhhhing about the patina and well worn look and so forth. Hell leave it out in the sun to make the dial "tropical" and you could be looking at a six figure watch in 30 or 40 years

Uh. What the hell was he doing with that watch? That isn’t the “wow imagine the places that watch has been, bet there are some great stories” look. That’s just sad.

That doesn't look like a professional job by and experienced Rolex tech. I'm afraid he didn't help his case as all. He'd have done better to sell it unpolished. However given today's market, maybe it'll still sell for big bucks.

Platinum is really tricky to polish. I have seen jewelry polishers totally screw up watch polishing for platinum. It takes between 3x to 6x longer than steel. One can polish a scratch 0.1mm deep, remove 0.3mm of material and the scratch will still be there. Don't know the science behind this but only have one staff member I trust with polishing platinum bracelets. Oddly enough 2-3 of us can polish platinum watch heads.

Rolex overhaul

Lugs look decent, polish is horrendous, bracelet is bad. One of the worst bracelets in a modern sub i have ever seen. He must have worn in super loose and beat the hell out of it. Unfortunately, it’s probably cheaper to have the bracelet fixed as a replacement could be very costly. I hope the price was really really low.

While this is a white gold watch I still completely agree with you about platinum. It is an odd material.
